S1-S375 S305 a treatment and recovery program at the outpatient departments of the Vincent van Go... more S1-S375 S305 a treatment and recovery program at the outpatient departments of the Vincent van Gogh Institute for Psychiatry, the Netherlands. Assessment included physical examination (BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure), laboratory tests (metabolic parameters), and an ECG to screen for cardiac dysfunction. In addition, information on demographics, DSM-IV diagnoses and use of medications was documented. Metabolic syndrome was diagnosed according to ATP-III criteria. Patients were categorized following the criteria from the ADA as having normoglycemia (FG <5.6 mmol/l and HbA1C <5.7%), prediabetes (FG 5.6-6.9 mmol/l and/or HbA1C 5.7-6.4%) or diabetes (FG ≥7.0 mmol/l and/or HbA1C ≥6.5%).

However, clinicians and researchers are cautious given case reports in which extensive meditation provoked psychotic symptoms in people with a psychotic disorder. The purpose of this study was to examine the feasibility, adverse effects and possible favourable effects of mindfulness-based therapy (MBT) in people recently recovering from a first episode of psychosis.
