These kinds of polyamide / PANI composites were investigated regarding their electrical properties. Their ac and dc electrical properties measured in the frequency range of 10−2–107 Hz are reported and the frequency dependence of electrical conductivity was investigated as a function of PANI concentration leading to the determination of the conductivity. The experimental conductivity was found to increase continuously with PANI content and explained by percolation theory with a relatively low percolation threshold of about 0.4 wt.%. The dielectric behavior of various PANI polymer composites has been characterized by the critical frequency ωc (denoting the crossover from the dc plateau of the conductivity to its frequency dependent ac behaviour). Modelling the conductivity behavior versus volume fraction using Slupkowski approach has rev...

The creation of the plasma jet away from the high voltage source makes it safe and quite practicable to use for biomedical applications. The effects of the geometrical parameters of the tube and the wire inside it used for collecting the discharge, on the plasma jet characteristics are investigated. It has been noticed that some parameters affect the electrical parameters of the primary discharge and have visual effects on the plasma jet size.

The continuity equations for electrons, positive and negative ions, including the effects of ionization, attachment, recombination, electron diffusion and photoionization, have been solved simultaneously with Poisson’s equation. The spatial-temporal variations of the electric field, the electrons, positive and negative ions have been investigated.

The films wettability evolution behaviors were evaluated through the results of contact angle measurements, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The plasma depositions of SiOx thin layers in presence of VUV radiation induce a contact angle decrease to about 7° and 35° for PI and PP films, respectively. XPS data showed that such difference in wettability is attributed to the increase of hydrophilic group's proportion at the surface of coated PI films due to VUV irradiation. AFM images showed that the PI surface topography remains relatively smooth when coated in presence of VUV radiation. However, in the case of PP films, AFM images revealed the growth of irregular structure due to a substrate etching effect supported by VUV radiation. For polymers coated without VUV irradiation, the deconvolution of the C1s peaks showed a significant decrease of CO bonds for both PI and PP substrates.

Our approach is based on the chemical polymerization of a very thin layer of polyaniline (PANI) around particles of transparent polymers (polyamide and polystyrene). Films are then obtained by dissolving the two type synthesized core-shell powders in dichloromethane and m-Cresol respectively. Electrical properties were investigated using a dielectric relaxation spectrometer. Both composite films exhibited a percolative behaviour and a well established dc conductivity for high PANI concentration related to the conductive properties of the PANI spanning clusters. This property allows using such films in semi-conductive applications. For polyamide films, high dielectric constants were obtained at 5 wt. % of PANI allowing their use as high k-dielectrics compatibles with organic printed circuit boards.

The experimental tests have been performed under light radiation. The evolution of the surface potential decay with time recorded at sample temperature of about 27°C showed that the faster decay in polyimide samples occurs with higher charging voltage. For high charging level, cross over phenomenon has been observed. The surface potential decay characteristic of corona charged polyimide for different sample temperatures shows that the influence of the sample temperature on the surface potential decay is very significant. The surface potential decay rate increases with the increase of the sample temperature.

These kind of Polyamide/PANI composites were investigated regarding to their microstuctural and electrical properties. The surface conductivity was characterized using the potential decay technique. The results were correlated with scanning electron microscopic images data concerning PANI particles dispersion in these antistatic polymer films (ASPF). The enhanced surface conductivity was due to percolation of the PANI phase in the surface layer of PA‐6 films. It has been shown by X ray spectra that the crystallinity of the films is also enhanced.
