We then reviewed the satisfaction ratings of the attributes. The aim was to rank the factors and to relate the importance rankings to customer satisfaction. The findings have implications in that a retailer is able to assess how well they meet their customers' needs on important attributes. The results suggested that since retail formats have become very standardised, corporate reputation is rated high and may be a source of sustainable competitive advantage. Accessibility was considered important, as was quality of service especially the friendliness and efficiency of checkout personnel. The results suggested the retail chain has largely been able to align its efforts to the areas considered important by customers. However, the satisfaction scores are rather low suggesting the retailer might be susceptible to an attack by a competitor prepared to deliver superior value...

Environmental trends such as time scarcity, working women, discerning male shoppers and the increasing encroachment of the internet into traditional retail markets, would suggest that convenience provides an obvious means of ensuring the survival of the unplanned

Schmidt (1984) discussed their contribution as acknowledging the capability of students to bring to bear new information from external resources to their existing knowledge and experience, within a particular context. Two features of PBL which do seem common throughout the literature are that the learning is student centred and that student work is undertaken in small collaborative groups. An important underlying precondition noted by Boaler(1998) and Clark(1997) is that an atmosphere of mutual respect, where justified conjecture is encouraged is an essential issue for the teacher to manage. The view that mistakes can be instructive for all participants during the course of a PBL task is another important issue and would need to be clearly identified for the students using this approach. Linked ...

In attempting to gain an indication of strategy usage, building on the work by Oxford (1993) and others, students from two groups with different levels of proficiency in the second language were surveyed on the frequency with which they used a range of learning strategies. Analysis of the data revealed little difference between the groups. Generally most strategies were used and a small number were not used on a regular basis. Findings indicate that there are some learning strategies that students could use to their benefit more often and this could perhaps be encouraged through more specific strategy training in the classroom.

In this paper it is argued that the model developed by Fahy offers a concise picture of the nature and role of key resources in strategic management but this picture needs further empirical development. A research approach based on a face-to face interview is used to explore the process by which a high-performing firm in the financial services industry in Australia identifies, develops, deploys and protects its key intangible assets and capabilities in sustaining competitive advantage.
