Research into memoirs from the 17th century (still popular at the beginning of the following century) helps to reveal the structural and artistic features used by later writers who-in an attempt to rehabilitate the novel, a genre that by the 18th century had lost readers' love and trust were trying to make their works look authentic, which defined their orientation to the documentary genres. Complex analysis of seven memoir novels representative of the literary process of the epoch (the first dates back to 1731, the last to 1786) is used to define genre-specific characteristics and show how the memoir novel evolved, losing an illusion of verisimilitude and making use of new techniques that served l...

Autofiction is one of the dominant trends in the development of modern French prose. The term was proposed by S. Dubrovsky in the late 1970s and was extremely tempting for writers who wanted to join the «auto» and «fiction», to give artistic form to documentary storytelling. In recent decades the term has acquired a broad interpretation and attracted a wide variety of writers: Gary Michon, Sollers, Welbeck, Beigbeder, Modiano, Duras, Le Clezio, Erno, etc., which are constructing in their works an endless “Lego from ego”. If in the early years of creativity are dominated by a fictional component, that many later moving to strengthen the documentary to the autobiography, which is currently taking on the traits of artistry. Under the guise of ancient heroes and gods these “novels with a key” portray real people easily recognizable by contemporaries — the author himself and his entourage. Mixing reality and fiction, Greek and Roman gods, using allegories, Montesquieu creates a “possible impossible world,” characteristic for the Baroque literature of the 17th century. The term was proposed by L. Dolezel, the founder of the theory of “possible worlds,” which allows a deeper understanding of how Montesquieu portrays an ideal world, opposed to the French reality, which he criticizes, as in his first novel “Persian Letters.” However, such features as fragmentation, frivolity, double meaning, hedonism are characteristic of the Rococo aesthetics that took shape in France at the beginning of the 18th century. These features are also inherent to such recognized author’s...

According to the classification of Aarne - Thompson, these tales belong to the type 510 A “persecution of the heroine”, which is associated with a complex of other plots (510 B, 511, 511 A). We limit our research only to those tales in which the identification of the heroine occurs by the shoe. The origins of this literature phenomenon are disclosed in terms of religious conception and traditional believes of the representatives of the thai-kadai language group (IX-XIX centuries).
