Eighteen Bannur ewes maintained under identical managemental conditions in a semi-intensive rearing farm which were of two to four years of age are categorized in to three groups, comprising of six animals in each group, such as non pregnant (Group I), early pregnant (Group II, at 20 to 35 days of pregnancy) and late pregnant (Group III, at 105 to 120 days of pregnancy) ewes based upon ultrasound imaging technique. The metabolites such as serum levels of β-hydroxybutyrate, glucose, total protein, blood urea nitrogen and lipid profile components were determined at 0, 7 and 15 th day of sample collection. The biochemical parameters did not vary significantly (P>0.05) between the groups except for the glucose levels which were significantly (P<0.05) lower in Group III compared to Group I and Group II. It was concluded that, all the parameters studied in Bannur breed of ewes during non pregnancy, early pregnancy and late pregnancy were

(Curry leaf) and Morus alba Linn. (Mulberry leaf) on the age of attainment of puberty, relative ovary and uterus weight and the number of ovarian surface follicles in female Wistar albino rats. The rats were reared from 20 to 70 days of age in six groups consisting of eight rats in each group. Group I and II were orally administered with 0.5 ml distilled water and 0.5 ml 10% DMSO, respectively. Group III, IV, V and VI were orally administered with methanolic extracts of Murraya koenigii at 500 mg/kg b.w. and 1000 mg/kg b.w. and methanolic extracts of Morus alba at 250 mg/kg b.w. and 500 mg/kg b.w, respectively. The significant advancement in the mean age of attainment of puberty was observed along with increase in number of surface follicles on both the ovaries in Group III, IV and VI. Whereas, the relative ovary weight was non significant (P>0.05) in all the treated groups, the...

Mouth dissolving tablet is the fast growing and highly accepted drug delivery system, convenience of self administration, compactness and easy manufacturing. Ondansetron HCl is a highly selective and potent antagonist of 5-hydroxytryptamine at 5HT3 receptors in the gastrointestinal tract where it blocks both sites of serotonin induced nausea and vomiting (emesis). The bland were examined for angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, compressibility index and hausner’s ratio. The prepared tablets were evaluated for thickness, hardness, friability, and weight variation, content uniformity, wetting time, water absorption ratio, in-vitro dispersion time, dissolution studies ...

The risks of stroke and coronary heart disease are directly related to both levels of systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Research studies have shown that isolated systolic hypertension (ISH) confers a substantial cardiovascular risk and stroke; however, prevention and treatment lead to lowering of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Objectives: The objectives of this study were (1) to assess the prevalence of ISH in population aged ≥60 years in the rural field practice area of JJM Medical College, Davangere, and (2) to identify risk factors of ISH. Materials and Methods: It is a community-based cross-sectional study conducted among the elderly ≥60 years of age in the rural field practice area of JJM Medical College, Davangere. Statistical analysis was performed using, percentage, proportion, Chi-square, and multivariate analysis. Results: A total of 780 subjects were studied. Majority of the elderly in our study belonged to the age group of 60-69 years (59.5%) with the mean age of 65 years (standard deviation ± 5.44). It was observed that majority of the elderly were males (55.4%) and majority were Hindu by religion (93.3%). In the present study, the overall prevalence of ISH was 25%, which was 26.4% in males and 23.6% among females. A significant increase in the prevalence of ISH was seen with an increase in age. Conclusion: Multivariate analysis showed age, high salt intake, less fruits consumption, lack of physical activity, and high body mass index which were significant independent risk factors of ISH.

The method of drug development from plant sources is based on a sequence of operation leading mainly toward the isolation of pure natural products. An antioxidant is a molecule that inhibits the oxidation of other molecules. Antioxidants have been investigated for the prevention of diseases such as cancer, coronary heart disease and even altitude sickness. The major sources of anti-oxidants are reported to be from the natural source, especially from plant source.
