Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization has decreased morbidity and mortality for cardiovascular defects, and this invasive process is not free of complications. Aim: To assess the nurse's knowledge and practices regarding pediatric cardiac catheterization Sulaimani City. Methods: A Descriptive-analytical designs are used in the current study. A purposive non-probability sample of (30) Nurses were recruited who worked in Sulaimani Cardiac Hospital. The present study shows that most participants were males aged between (45-49). years. The study demonstrated that nurses' knowledge in pediatric cardiac catheterization was satisfied, and more than half of them worked with "good practice. Results: the study's result indicates a significant positive statistical correlation between (nurses' knowledge and Nurses' practice at Pre-cardiac, Intra-cardiac, Post-cardiac). Conclusions: The present study shows that most participants were male aged between(45-49). Years. The study demonstrated that nurse's knowledge in pediatric cardiac catheterization was satisfied, and more than half of them worked with "good practice." Further, the study's result indicates a significant positive statistical correlation between (nurse's knowledge and nurse's practice at Pre-cardiac, Intra-cardiac, Post-cardiac). The study recommends a specific training course for all the nurses working with children undergoing pediatric cardiac catheterization, and also further qualitative studies are also recommended.

Many socio-demographic and economic factors affect the pattern and prevalence of pediculosis. It is widely spread among pupils, particularly those in elementary schools. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of Pediculus capitis infestation and its related risk factors in primary school children in Sulaimani Governorate, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, overall, 2064 primary school children (aged 5–14 years) during the period from October 2019 to February 2020 were randomly examined for the presence of any stage of Pediculosis capitis in both urban and suburban areas. The schools were selected by multistage sampling methods. A questionnaire was sent to the parents to get consent and fill in for every single pupil. The results were computed using the chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. Results: The overall prevalence of head lice infestation was (9.16%). The st...

Prevalence of E. histolytica in Sulaimani province, KRG, Iraq has been scantily studied as well as detecting and controlling the risk factors related to the parasite is crucial in Sulaimani city. Objectives: A cross-sectional study was pointed to supply the primary information on the prevalence and epidemiological risk factors including age, residency, economic status, drinking water source, hand washing and consuming raw vegetable related to E. histolytica infection among children between 1 to 10 years old in Sulaimani city, Iraq. Methodology: A total of 450 stool samples randomly were collected (during period from September 2021 to February 2022) from children in Sulaimani pediatric hospital in Sulaimani city, KRG, Iraq, and examined by direct smear microscopy in normal saline and iodine smears which is followed by ...

There is no well-defined, reliable and valid method for measuring the quality of end-of-life care in the field of pediatric palliative care; further, limited studies that have examined the quality of dyeing experience among children in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The aim of this study was to assess the nurse's perceptions regarding the quality of children dying experience in the Sulaimanea Oncology and ICU Centre. Sixty nurses (30 Oncology and 30 ICU nurses) were recruited in the study. Study objectives were addressed using a survey design; a modified validated Quality of Death and Dying questionnaire and open ended questions were used in order to collect the quantitative and qualitative data Findings: The majority of participants reported that cancer dying children were significantly suffered pain, bleeding, stress and terrified from hospital more than ICU dying children and also cancer children family seem to stay with their child during death time more than the ICU children families. Nurses in both settings faced three barriers in offering the end of life care, such as no palliative unit available along with no adequate palliative care offered to the patients as standard in both Oncology and critical care settings (Institution and organizational barrier). Further, the family also makes a barrier as they spent too much time with their children and participate in the care of their children (family barrier), and limited role of the nurses barrier. Standard end of life care is necessary to manage deterioration patients and also a continuous specific end of life care education course is required for the nurse working in these settings.

It is consid-ered high risk for both the mother and infant. This study aimed to find out the effect of teenage pregnancy on neonatal health outcomes. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective study was conducted in Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and involved all pregnant teenage mothers admitted to Sulaymaniyah Maternity Teaching Hospital from January 1, 2019, to June 30, 2019. Results: 332 of mothers aged ≤19 years and their newborns were studied. A higher pro-portion of teenage mothers were from rural areas than the urban areas (59.3% vs 40.7%). The percentage of teenage mothers who did not attend antenatal care was 11.14%, and irregular attendees represented 9.94 %. Compared with teenage mothers aged 14–16 years, teenage mothers aged 17–19 years had higher risks of anaemia, systemic infe...

The aim: The present study has been carried out to find the parental perceptions about socio-demographic, prenatal, perinatal and neonatal factors associated with autistic children. Methodology: A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted in 120 autistic children's families, where their children diagnosed using the diagnostic and statistical manual of development disorder (DSM-5) (either mother or father) attending special school in Sulaimania city during October 2015 to June 2016. Factorial analysis (principal component analysis) was used in order to identify the effective factors affecting autism.

Abstract Flexible energy storage devices attracted extensive attention due to their application i... more Abstract Flexible energy storage devices attracted extensive attention due to their application in personal wearable electronic products. However, the applications of flexible energy storage devices, especially supercapacitors are limited by their low energy density, because anode materials with large capacitance are scarce for the devices based on aqueous electrolyte. Therefore, developing high-performance anode is an effective way to break through the low energy density of flexible devices. Herein, the electroless plating method was used to prepare a flexible cobalt metal substrate based on carbon cloth (CC). The composite of Co9S8 and reduced oxide graphene (rGO/Co9S8(rGO)/CC) is prepared by one-step hydrothermal method as a flexible anode with outstanding performance. Benefiting from the high hydrogen storage capacity of rGO/Co9S8(rGO), only a small amount of anode materials are needed to match the capacity of the cathode material of rGO/Ni3S2(rGO). The optimized flexible device assembled by using rGO/Co9S8(rGO) as negative electrode and rGO/Ni3S2(rGO) as positive electrode shows a high specific capacitance of 192.4 mAh g−1 at the current density of 4.0 A g−1, large energy density (168.1 Wh kg−1 at 3.5 kW kg−1). Furthermore, the network structure of the electrode can provide enough space for the expansion and contraction of the electrode materials during the repeated charging and discharging process, so the device exhibits good cycle stability (the capacitance of the device can retain 84.3% after 6000 cycles). Moreover, the device also exhibits remarkable flexibility. These results reveal that this kind of electrochemical hydrogen storage material can be developed as a promising anode in flexible energy storage devices.

Validated age appropriate scales are available to assess pain among pediatric patients. The aim of this study is to find out the effect of injectable medication procedure on the level of pain among early childhood patients. This descriptive cross -sectional study was designed to assess the physiological and behavioral characteristic of pain using CRIES pain rating scale for both medical and surgical conditions, which contains (cry, spo2, heart rate, facial expression and sleep pattern). The study has been conducted for twelve weeks duration in the pediatric wards at medical and surgical hospitals in the Sulaimani city – Kurdistan region of Iraq between 1st March to 1st Jun 2019. Fifty early childhood aged between (1 month- 3years) were participated and assessed pre injectable medication procedure and after. CRIES pain scales were applied to the children and show that there are highly significant differences bet...
