It is started from the base of the participation from the relation State-Society, the definition and establishment of the typology in the civil participation, and the recognition of its purposes in the local context. Responses are intended to be given to questions about social, political and economic conditions, in which the opening of participative spaces, and the role assumed by the State and the civil society in such processes were promoted. It is concluded that the Latin American revised experiences must be tackled under the conflict theoretical postulates, where the analyzed cases were developed under schemes of co-optative clientage participation, where the reformist speech was stimulating the radical substitution of the representative democracy for the participative one.
