Offline computer-based digital education (OCDE) may be a potential solution to overcoming the geographical, financial and temporal obstacles faced by doctors. OBJECTIVE Objectives: The objectives of this systematic review were to evaluate the effectiveness of OCDE compared to face-to-face learning, no intervention or other type of digital learning for improving medical doctors’ knowledge, cognitive skills and patient-related outcomes. The secondary objectives were to assess the cost-effectiveness of OCDE and any adverse, effects of the interventions. METHODS Methods: We searched the major bibliographic databases from 1990 to August 2017 to identify relevant articles and followed the Cochrane methodology for systematic reviews of intervention. Thus, evaluating whether the system has been utilized effectively is necessary, particularly on how it predicts the work performance of the health care providers. Methods: Convenience sampling was employed for data collection in three government hospitals for seven months. A standardized effectiveness survey for EHR systems was administered to health care providers (specialists, medical officers, and nurses) as they participated in medical education programs. Power analysis was conducted before and after the study to ensure adequate sample sizes and sufficient power. The empirical data was assessed by employing partial least squares-structural equation modeling for hypotheses testing. At present, the underutilized service is due to its failure to satisfy the user's demands on various aspects. Since Teleconsultation in BSE is at proposal stage, there is strong need for user's involvement in suggesting its contents to harvest end-user acceptance. This study describes the development process of the Web-based Breast Self-Examination (BSE) Teleconsultation System, emphasizing the role of public users in identifying the contents of the system and its functionality using our proposed Modified UCC (MUCC) approach. To help understanding the process we first presents the key concepts related to original User-Created Content (UCC) approach; next we describes in details the data gathering process which applied qualitative method; we then describes the web-based application for BSE Teleconsultation, as well as, the development process illustrating the transition from the MUCC to the system development; and finally we discusses the importance of the user's input in the system development from our experience. Approach: A semi-structured one-to-one interviews with 15 public users was carried out in October 2008 in one of the public university in Malaysia to capture the content of the system based on our proposed MUCC approach. Results: By using our MUCC approach, the content of the proposed system has been identified and the BSE Teleconsultation system has been successfully developed. Conclusion/Recommendations: MUCC approach proposed and used in this study has provides insights on user's role in e-health system development.

The majority of the study sample have a positive attitude with low e-health literacy levels.

In this paper, we present scenarios for psychiatric behavioral monitoring systems to be placed in psychiatric wards to understand patients' perception regarding privacy. Psychiatric behavioral monitoring refers to systems that are deemed useful in measuring clinical outcomes, but little research has been done on how these systems will impact patients' privacy. We conducted a case study in one teaching hospital in Malaysia. We investigated the physical factors that influence patients' perceived privacy with respect to a psychiatric monitoring system. The eight physical factors identified from the information system development privacy model, a comprehensive model for designing a privacy-sensitive information system, were adapted in this research. Scenario-based interviews were conducted with 25 patients in a psychiatric ward for 3 months. Psychiatric patients were ...

The research objective is to develop a Saudi e-health literacy scale (SeHL) for measuring e-health literacy among Saudis suffering from non-communicable diseases (NCD). Overall, 14 relevant papers in related interdisciplinary fields were reviewed to select the most useful literacy dimensions. From these articles, we extracted the most common dimensions used to measure e-health literacy across the disciplines. Multiple workshops with multidisciplinary team members reviewed and evaluated items for SeHL. Four key aspects of e-health literacy-use of technology/media, information-seeking, usefulness and confidence-were identified and integrated as e-health literacy dimensions. These will be used to measure e-health literacy among Saudi patients with NCDs. A translation from Arabic to English was performe...

We created the Mobile Health Effectiveness and Readiness Questionnaire (MHERQ) to measure its validity and reliability in assessing the readiness of Saudi diabetic patients use of mobile health technologies for diabetes self-management. The study was able to measure the validity and reliability of MHERQ and found that MHERQ provides promising results for Saudi diabetic patients' use of mobile health technologies.

Since its implementation 15 years ago, there has been the critical requirement for a systematic evaluation to assess its effectiveness in coping with the current system, task complexity, and rapid technological changes. The study aims to assess system quality factors to predict the performance of electronic health in a single public hospital in Malaysia. Non-probability sampling was employed for data collection among selected providers in a single hospital for two months. Data cleaning and bias checking were performed before final analysis in partial least squares-structural equation modeling. Convergent and discriminant validity assessments were satisfied the required criterions in the reflective measurement model. The structural model output revealed that the proposed adequate infrastructure, system interoperability, security control, and system compatibility were the significant predictors, where system compatibility became the most critical characteristic to influence an individual health care provider's performance. The previous DeLone and McLean information system success models should be extended to incorporate these technological factors in the medical system research domain to examine the effectiveness of modern electronic health record systems. In this study, care providers' performance was expected when the system usage fits with patients' needs that eventually increased their productivity.

The government of Malaysia implemented HIS across the country to maximize the use of technology to improve healthcare delivery, however, little is known about the benefits and challenges of HIS adoption in each institution. This paper looks at the technology and people issues in adopting such systems. The study used a case study approach, using an in-depth interview with multidisciplinary medical team members who were using the system on a daily basis. A thematic analysis using Atlas.ti was employed to understand the complex relations among themes and sub-themes to discover the patterns in the data. . Users found the new system increased the efficiency of workflows and saved time. They reported less redundancy of work and improved communication among medical team members. Data retrieval and storage were also mentioned as positive results of the new HIS system. Healthcar...

Owing to their increasing popularity, online privacy has become a critical issue for these sites. The tools presently being utilized for privacy settings are too ambiguous for ordinary users to understand and the specified policies are too complicated. In this paper, a collaborative filtering privacy recommender system is proposed. The implementation of the system was initiated by examining the users’ attitudes toward privacy; whereby the most significant factors impacting users’ attitudes towards privacy were determined to be location, religion and gender. The next step involved the classification of the users into various groups on the basis of the above factors. The paper presents a method of integrating the identified factors into the collaborative filtering algorithm to improve the filtering process. The evaluation of results reflects the accuracy of recommendations and proves that the use of the clustering model assisted the CF recommender in its creation of appropriate recommendations for each user.
