This research aims to explain the design principles of child-friendly vocational schools, describ... more This research aims to explain the design principles of child-friendly vocational schools, describe the architectural conditions of the facilities and infrastructure in Jakarta 1 State Vocational School, and explain their suitability based on the design principles of child-friendly vocational schools. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this research use observation and documentation. The object of this research is the facilities and infrastructure of Jakarta 1 State Vocational School in the scope of a general learning room, a supporting learning room, and a specific learning room for construction and property engineering expertise. The final result explains that the architectural conditions of the facilities and infrastructure in Jakarta 1 State Vocational School are very suitable following the design principles of a child-friendly vocational school, including safety, health, comfort, easiness, and security requirements. The final suitability score is 74.5%. The most suitable assessment is on the Safety criteria, while the lowest is on the Comfort criteria.

But it's very naive and simplistic. Human as culture species is hold up to get architecture placing as part of cultural process. If language is not word only, but is accentuation, rhythm, gesture, and other expression also, so architectures its means languages with space and dimension, line and plane, texture and structure, and locally material and context. Architecture to produce cultural creation and expression with emotion and deep passion. Architecture its means metaphor, architecture is poetics. In spite of this, in reality of contemporary or modern architecture, architecture form is fashion only. Architecture is new trend models only that created for every season. So architecture newest is obsession that created from difference and recycle from past time. Because that, on the architecture in Indonesia is ersatz metaphor developed such as analogy of legend city, baroque style, rococo style, Brunelleschi dome or dream other world metaphor (Beverly Hills style, Medieval, Mediterranean, Country style, Japan style, etc) that is not relevant of local context. So architecture brand image such as legend city, flower city, river side city is objective to commercial communication only and not architectural essentially.

This This research is related to the effort to design a more representative learning system to im... more This This research is related to the effort to design a more representative learning system to improve the learning result of digital fashion design, through the development of interactive multimedia based on motion graphic. This research is aimed to know the effect of interactive multimedia application based on motion graphic to increase the mastery of the concept and skill of the students to making fashion designing in digital format. The research method used is quasi experiment with research design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The lectures are conducted in two different classes, namely class A as the Experimental Class and class B as the Control Class. From the calculation result after interpreted using Normalize Gain, there is an increase of higher learning result in student with interactive learning based on motion graphic, compared with student achievement on conventional learning. In this research, interactive multimedia learning based on motion graphic is effective toward the improvement of student learning in concept mastering indicator and on the aspect of making fashion design in digital format.

The problem of vocational education for Children with Special Needs (CSN) is not only about the s... more The problem of vocational education for Children with Special Needs (CSN) is not only about the service profile, spectrum relevance and competency level, but also the carrying capacity of educational facilities. In this regard, two important things are highlighted. First, the different characteristics of the design of educational facilities between regular and exceptional schools. Second, the distinctive characteristics of the design of the school facilities are extraordinary for general education (academic) and vocational education. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of suitability of the architectural design of educational facilities with the needs of vocational learning behavior for children with special needs in West Java, Indonesia. The entire research used the Education Research and Development (R & D) method of Developing the Architectural Facility Design Guide to Support the Vocational Competence of Crew Competence in accordance with the stages developed by Thiagarajan (1974) known as Four-D Model. To achieve the above objectives, then the stages of the R & D method that is done is the define, design and develop stage. Evaluation results show the infrastructure of education of Special School (SLB) Cicendo, Indonesia has met the standards set by the government, especially on aspects of land and building areas have met the standards. Most aspects of accessibility such as the basic size of space, pedestrian pathways, and doors have been met. But other aspects such as guiding lines, ram, ladders, toilets, showers, sinks, furniture and signs do not meet accessibility requirements. The conclusion is the educational infrastructure of the school in general has met the standards set by the government.

This uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive-evaluative method. Data collection techniques are in the form of observation and documentation. The research results related to the criteria for the principles of child-friendly school design in the kindergarten environment are known to have five aspects: security, health, comfort, safety, and convenience. Participatory design projects in major cities of Indonesia became more popular since the mid-1990... more Participatory design projects in major cities of Indonesia became more popular since the mid-1990s, when the Indonesian public administrations changed its systems from the previously strong centralization to the new local self-governance. In most of the public projects that mandated the public participation including in designing urban parks, however, the kinds of participation tended to be at the minimum level, such as holding the required public announcements and public hearings. Therefore, major cities of Indonesia have phenomenon of low use, and abandoned urban parks such as in Bandung City. As the substances of the participatory designs are increasingly in demand these days, it becomes more necessary to provide proper design tools and processes for better communications among the residents and experts. Based on the lesson learned from urban parks in Japan, this paper proposes a practical alternatives of design tool, applied to the three steps in the general participatory design processes. The three steps are 1) public information; 2) design workshop; and 3) feedback. The paper argues, among others, that utilization of appropriate design tools in each step contributes to better communications among residents and experts, which would eventually enhance the mobilization of community spirits among all participants. This paper clarified that Bandung needs to improve the parks by involving community and providing the communal space for participation.

Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) is a form of learning model that integrates academic studies with the workplace that provides work experience in improving work skills. The purpose of this library is to find out the description, knowledge and results of research that is focused on the WIL learning model so that the potential and relevance of this model in vocational education programs can be known. Optional Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Methods (PRISMA) were used as the basic method for systematizing and meta-analyses. Full text peer-reviewed articles were searched for four online publication journals, namely Scientdirect, Springer, Taylor and Francis, and Wiley. Articles are searched based on main keywords and focus on educational subjects. From the results of the search and selection process, 29 articles were obtained from the year 2015 to 2020. The results of the literature review showed that the most widely used method was qualitative with 12 publications. The fields of science in the selected WIL articles are relatively dominated by the fields of business and health sciences, each with 6 articles. Articles published have increased in recent years, although in recent years there has been a decline. The most obvious finding from this research is the positive result of increasing graduates in facing the world of work. Overall, we provide a reference for further research by identifying the need for work-integrated learning research.

This research aims to provide an overview of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Scienc... more This research aims to provide an overview of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Science and Technology (PUI-PT) in Indonesia, one of which is the Technical Vocational Education and Training Research Center (TVET-RC) belonging to the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). In this research, UPI became the locus and focus of the research center of excellence in the form of TVET-RC, as part of PUI-PT in Indonesia. The results showed that TVET-RC UPI as the leading part of PUI-PT in Indonesia was closely related to the findings in the form of four things: (1) Vocational Teacher Professional Education; (2) Redesign of the vocational expertise spectrum; (3) Mixed learning preparation guide; (4) HR capacity and governance of TVET-RC. The four findings are at the same time the development of TVET-RC at UPI which is able to contribute to the improvement of good and productive human resources.

The problem in this study is to describe the contribution of investment in the provision of facilities and infrastructure on improving the academic and institutional performance of higher education. This study uses a Post Occupational Evaluation method that focuses on measuring building performance and the contribution to higher education academic performance. This study also compares the building performance and academic performance of universities that receive and do not receive loans.

They earn their vocational skills through cultural inheritance. Construction workers in many construction projects in urban areas mostly come from villages in Java. They learn their vocational skills from their relatives and local communities in their villages. This paper aims at describing how vocational skills are passed down through generations. This qualitative ethnographic and ethnoandragogic study explores the training process, beginning with the recruitment pattern, the network development, skills acquisition and transmission pattern, responses to technology, and attitudes to challenges in modern industry. Through observation and in-depth interview, it was revealed that traditionally the training pattern applied andragogic model principles; i.e., learning by doing and learning on the job. This study provides a base for further research and the development and improvement of vocational education and training model in response to the particular characteristics of construction workers in Indonesia.

This research aims to provide an overview of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Scienc... more This research aims to provide an overview of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Science and Technology (PUI-PT) in Indonesia, one of which is the Technical Vocational Education and Training Research Center (TVET-RC) belonging to the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). In this research, UPI became the locus and focus of the research center of excellence in the form of TVET-RC, as part of PUI-PT in Indonesia. The results showed that TVET-RC UPI as the leading part of PUI-PT in Indonesia was closely related to the findings in the form of four things: (1) Vocational Teacher Professional Education; (2) Redesign of the vocational expertise spectrum; (3) Mixed learning preparation guide; (4) HR capacity and governance of TVET-RC. The four findings are at the same time the development of TVET-RC at UPI which is able to contribute to the improvement of good and productive human resources.

However, since the government fund is inadequate, so the development financing to improve the physical quality of higher education infrastructure is obtained through overseas loan financing. The problem in this study is to describe the contribution of investment in the provision of facilities and infrastructure on improving the academic and institutional performance of higher education. This study uses a Post Occupational Evaluation method that focuses on measuring building performance and the contribution to higher education academic performance. This study also compares the building performance and academic performance of universities that receive and do not receive loans.

The research method used is evaluative descriptive research method. The instrument used is the Environmental Literacy Test. The component of environmental literacy consists of environmental knowledge, attitudes, and "actions" or responsible behavior for the environment. Mastery of the environmental concept of vocational students is based on the achievement of environmental literacy in terms of knowledge and environmental understanding which consists of 8 indicators, i.e.: energy, pollution and contamination, forests, atmosphere / climate, water, waste, and sustainable development. The average mastery of environmental concepts is 51, which included to the low category. Amid building developments in the current millennial era, the UPI Purwakarta campus as one of the leading educational buildings in Purwakarta does not yet have a distinctive image or identity in each of its buildings, even most of them are still like simple buildings. Therefore, this paper will examine campus architecture which can represent contextual campus buildings and identity through facades. They earn their vocational skills through cultural inheritance. Construction workers in many construction projects in urban areas mostly come from villages in Java. They learn their vocational skills from their relatives and local communities in their villages. This paper aims at describing how vocational skills are passed down through generations. This qualitative ethnographic and ethnoandragogic study explores the training process, beginning with the recruitment pattern, the network development, skills acquisition and transmission pattern, responses to technology, and attitudes to challenges in modern industry. Through observation and in-depth interview, it was revealed that traditionally the training pattern applied andragogic model principles; i.e., learning by doing and learning on the job. This study provides a base for further research and the development and improvement of vocational education and training model in response to the particular characteristics of construction workers in Indonesia.
