The rapid change on policy has an important impact on performances of farms and enterprises in the agriculture and agri-industry sectors, methods of organizing production and choices of supply. In this paper the authors would like to investigate the short run reaction of producers to CAP changes and the medium run modification of the industrial structure in Italy. To simulate impact and transformations following to policy changes, a joint micro-econometric modelling and an input-output framework will be applied.

The aim of this work is to test the hypothesis that agricultural households are still a disadvantaged group in terms of income gap and to select additional sub-categories with implication for income policy.

A brief updated overview on this topic, much debated and approved, will be given in different conceptual frameworks: longitudinal or spatial, temporal and contemporaneous. It will be shown the possible introduction of bias in aggregate macroeconomic models and the stochastic characteristics change from higher frequency models to lower ones. The concept of multi-dimensionality as a means to overcome the onedimensional analysis of development and poverty and also as an alternative measure of welfare will be discussed in its empirical and methodological aspects. A focus will be dedicated to the specific steps necessary to identify the weights and the aggregation methods in the construction of composite indices.

The main problems dealing with this kind of data are due to (i) measurement errors and partial observability of some characteristics, (ii) not correspondence of the observed population by alternative sources, and, finally, (iii) a relevant structural difference in at-first-sight homogeneous units. These problems are also met in the ASIA project carried on by the Italian National Institute of Statistic (ISTAT), in order to implement a new statistical database of active firms in Italy2. The ASIA database is mainly built up on information available from administrative sources, but in some practical cases these have to be completed or compared with estimations generated by statistical or econometric techniques3.

Spatialization of statistical information is often intended as the distribution of statistical da... more Spatialization of statistical information is often intended as the distribution of statistical data within administrative areas, represented as homogeneous. In this way, the spatial difference between statistical data often cannot be revealed, because of the low spatial resolution. Given the availability of point georeferenced data, the application of geostatistical interpolation methods allows to produce a spatial representation of statistical information more adherent to the reality, and not necessarily linked to the administrative boundaries. Maps obtained with these techniques not only enhance the dissemination of statistical information at territorial level, but also represent a valuable tool for policy makers. In this paper the results of a study performed on economic data at NUTS3 level (Province) in Italy are presented. Using GIS technology, it is possible to explore the relationship between the distribution of statistical data and some geographical features in the same region.

Appropriate statistical indicators have to be selected and calculated to satisfy the needs of final users, linking the date to statistical demand. Appropriate classifications and definitions are also essential, while different data-sources and highly disaggregated estimations are needed; for instance, for small areas estimations and rural areas. Furthermore, Evaluation of a policy is a specific purpose, different from monitoring a project or long run economic analysis. The paper try to address the argument from a National Account prospective, rely on the assumption that this is an appropriate macro-economic framework for statistics and to base scientific studies.

The key limitation of the same data is their territorial detail that, normally, do not match with rural and urban areas as defined by the theory. The paper, based on available data for Italy, would like to investigate the statistical interaction among: (1) multidimentionality of rural development and related indicators (that can be approached, for example, alternatively with principal components analysis or composite indicators); (2) multidimentionality in the definition of "rurality"; (3) the degree of rurality of administrative areas (that is the level at which most of the surveys are designed, official statistics are calculated and statistical data are provided also to professional users). In Italy, the standard administrative level of disaggregation for natio...
