The objectives of this study were to determine the impact of hospitalization on vaccination coverage and the variables associated with vaccination during hospital stay. Materials and Methods: This observational study was conducted from May 2019 to December 2019 in the Endocrinology-Nutrition-Diabetes Department of the University Hospital of Montpellier, France. This department encompasses three medical units, two of which have a full-time clinical pharmacist involved in the multidisciplinary management of patients. All adult diabetic patients who completed a questionnaire about vaccines were prospectively included by a clinical pharmacist and followed until department discharge. In this study, we assessed adherence to prescription recommendations for glucose-lowering drugs according to renal function in hospitalized diabetic subjects. Materials and Methods: This prospective cohort study was carried out over a 2-year period in a university hospital. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was determined by averaging all measurements performed during hospitalization. Glucose-lowering drug dosages were analyzed according to the recommendations of the relevant medical societies. The threefold aims of this study are: to determine the effects of obesity (OB) on aBMD and myokines; to examine the potential link between myokines and bone parameters; and to determine whether the effects of LBM on aBMD are mediated by myokines. aBMD and myokine levels were evaluated in relation to the body mass index (BMI) in 179 women. Compared with normal-weight controls (CON; n = 40), women with OB (n = 139) presented higher aBMD, myostatin and follistatin levels and lower irisin levels. Therefore, we compared the metabolic effects of a combination of exercise and grape polyphenols supplementation in obese IR rats with high-fat diet (EXOPP) to the effect of high-fat diet alone (HF) or with a nutritional supplementation of grape polyphenols (PP) or with endurance exercise (EXO) during 8 wks. We observed an improvement of systemic and skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity in EXO and EXOPP rats. EXOPP rats compared to HF rats presented a lower insulinemia and HOMA-IR with higher liver and muscle glycogen contents. Effects of insulin of levels of mRNA encoding protein kinase C (PKC)-alpha, PKC-beta, PKC-epsilon... more Effects of insulin of levels of mRNA encoding protein kinase C (PKC)-alpha, PKC-beta, PKC-epsilon and PKC-theta were examined by ribonuclease protection assay in primary cultures of rat adipocytes in vitro, and in rat adipose tissue and gastrocnemius muscle in vivo. In all cases, insulin increased the levels of PKC-alpha mRNA and PKC-beta mRNA, and, in muscle, insulin also increased the level of PKC-theta mRNA. PKC-epsilon mRNA levels, on the other hand, were not altered significantly. Insulin also stimulated the apparent translocation of PKC-alpha, -beta, -epsilon and -theta, to the membrane fractions of adipocytes, adipose tissue and gastrocnemius muscles, and, in some instances, total PKC levels were diminished, e.g. PKC-alpha and PKC-beta in cultured adipocytes in vitro and/or whole adipose tissue in vivo, and PKC-alpha and PKC-theta in the gastrocnemius muscle. One of the strategies proposed by several authors is low intensity endurance training targeted at the level of maximal oxidation. Large series using this technique are lacking. Addressing this issue, we performed a meta-analysis of the studies on anthropometric measurements. From a database of 433 articles, 15 were selected, including 279 subjects with 6 different populations. Studies duration ranged from 2 months to 12 months.
