Corporate programs are often voluntary and sometimes struggle to attract sufficient participants.... more Corporate programs are often voluntary and sometimes struggle to attract sufficient participants. Mentoring programs tend to follow a mentor-mentee format. However, one Australian university offers female staff a group-mentoring model. Despite the positive ratings of this mentoring model, there appeared to be negative perceptions of the program. To understand why these perceptions were negative, exploratory research was undertaken. Quantitative and qualitative research was triangulated to improve understanding of the data. Ultimately, recommendations for branding of the product were developed. Numerous incorrect perceptions existed, and one of the biggest hindrances for participation in the program was a perceived lack of time and confusion about the nature of the program.
It details the outcome of a Review I commissioned in November 2009 that examined the Victoria Pol... more It details the outcome of a Review I commissioned in November 2009 that examined the Victoria Police policies and processes for investigating deaths associated with police contact. It also examined the relevant legislative framework for conducting investigations into deaths associated with police contact. This Review has involved an unprecedented consultation and collaboration between stakeholders representing diverse interests. I am very grateful for the extensive contribution made by participants to this Review. The time spent by so many refl ects a commitment to improving systems and processes for the investigation of deaths associated with police contact in Victoria. The professionalism displayed by individuals who participated in this Review, in spite of disparate views, demonstrated a shared commitment to ensuring we learn from these tragedies to try and prevent their recurrence.

This paper seeks to make a contribution to the latest round of reform of the United Nations by as... more This paper seeks to make a contribution to the latest round of reform of the United Nations by assessing the strengths and weaknesses of Secretary General, Kofi Annnan's latest reform package 'In Larger Freedom: towards development, security and human rights for all'. More particularly Recommendation 162 dealing with the United Nations relationships with NGOs. It does this by evaluating the relationship between the UN and member states, the relationship between member states and civil society; and the formal and informal relationships between the UN and civil society.
