Indonesia as a developing country has many problems in terms of providing a trained and professio... more Indonesia as a developing country has many problems in terms of providing a trained and professional workforce according to industry needs. For this reason, the Government developed the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution, to increase the supply of skilled labor for the job market and industry needs. The problem is that TVET graduates still do not meet industrial needs, which is indicated by a large number of unemployed graduates. This article aims to uncover the key factors that cause the lack of link and match between TVET and industry needs. The method used is a qualitative analysis of the phenomenon of link and match TVET and industry in Indonesia. The analysis is based on a literature review on the implementation of TVET in various countries and interviews with relevant stakeholders. The focus of the discussion includes 3 points: 1) How does TVET education currently meet the labor requirements needed by industry? (2) What factors need to be considered in increasing the link and match between the world of education, especially TVET and industry needs, (3) How to improve Link and Match between TVET and the industry. The result showed that there were 9 factors which became the main key influencing the link and match between TVET and industry needs. For this reason, efforts are needed to improve the relevance and suitability of TVET with the industry to improve the quality of graduates.
New and renewable energy is one of the hot issues discussed by various energy experts in many cou... more New and renewable energy is one of the hot issues discussed by various energy experts in many countries. As a country that has enormous renewable energy potential, Indonesia has not utilized it optimally. One of the reasons is the inadequate learning of new and renewable energy in schools and colleges. This article will discuss the design and implementation of a Trainer Kit for Hybrid On-Grid Solar Power Generation System (TK-HOGS). With this Trainer Kit, it is hoped that vocational education students will increase their competence in new and renewable energy. This study uses a research and development approach that adopts the ADDIE model. The development stages include Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results showed: (1) The TK-HOGS can produce an average power of 22.74 Watt with an estimated electrical energy of 136 WH and (2) Media experts and electric power engineers stated that this TK-HOGS is "Very Good" and very suitable to be used to help lecturers in carrying out learning.

The curriculum review process is intended to meet the requirements of industrial construction and enhance the employability of students to do the job in electrical engineering field. The method used is Dacum (Developing a Curriculum) by systematically analyzing positions through brainstorming with experts in construction companies and electrical engineering education. The curriculum has been reviewed extensively in order for the program to be more relevant and focused on the needs of the program. The results showed the curriculum that needed to be developed in educational and training institutions in the electrical engineering field on a construction job can be divided into three (3) types of job positions, are 1. Electrical job planners, 2. Electrical job inspectors, and 3. Electrical Job implementers.
Globalization is marked by the enactment of cooperation agreements between countries such as the ... more Globalization is marked by the enactment of cooperation agreements between countries such as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA), World Trade Organization (WTO), and other agreements. Globalization has resulted in the opening of goods, capital, investment, and labor between countries in the world. Higher education has a strategic role in preparing professional human resources to compete with workers from world countries. This article examines and analyzes Indonesian students' readiness to face globalization, the industrial revolution 4.0, and society 5.0. The questionnaire was distributed to students from six departments at the Yogyakarta State University's Faculty of Engineering to investigate this. Student readiness indicators include competency readiness (knowledge, skills, and attitudes), personal Readiness (self-confidence and mental), communication readiness, teamwork readiness, and technological Readiness. The results showed students' readiness in facing globalization, the industrial revolution 4.0, and society 5.0 were in the Good category with an average score of 2.86 (71.5%). In detail, it can be explained, student readiness in the competency aspect gets a score of 2.86 (71.5%), personal readiness with an average score of 2.65 (65.5%), communication readiness has a score of 2.6 (65%), readiness teamwork with a score of 3.18 (79.5) and technology readiness with a score of 3.04 (76%).
The demand for labor change in the industrial revolution 4.0 era has become a fundamental challen... more The demand for labor change in the industrial revolution 4.0 era has become a fundamental challenge for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to quickly and efficiently meet the needs of changing economic skills and especially in the field of electrical engineering. Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics released data on unemployment rates in Indonesia is still relatively high and dominated by vocational education graduates. It is ironic considering that vocational education is designed to prepare graduates who are ready to work. It is allegedly due to the lack of links and matches between TVET and the world of work and industry. This article will comprehensively evaluate the relationship and compatibility between TVET and the world of work in the field of electrical engineering. The research uses a qualitative approach based on observation, interviews, and discussion with practitioners of TVET in electrical industries. The findings of this study indicate a substantial mismatch between TVET and the needs of the business and industrial world, especially in the electrical engineering field. Most TVET Institutions in Indonesia have limitations in terms of quality human resources, facilities, and infrastructure that meets standards, lack of cooperation with industry, curricula that are in line with work needs, and weak in modern work culture on campus. Based on data analysis and findings, recommendations for a framework to strengthen relations between TVET providers and the manufacturing sector have been proposing for use by education planners in building or improving existing TVET.

Self-evaluation is one of the most important activities undertaken by vocational high schools to ... more Self-evaluation is one of the most important activities undertaken by vocational high schools to improve internal and external conditions related to the performance and preparation of future work programs. In practice, selfevaluation always requires much data relating to the school. One issue that was released was that the data needed was still scattered on separate systems. Various methods are used to integrate manual and computer-aided, but it is very troublesome and requires a long time. One way to overcome this problem is to develop a self-assessment system using semantic web technology, correctly, ontology from related data. This paper aims to develop VISION, a semantic web-based ontology to improve vocational education self-evaluation systems. The method used is system development, which consists of 5 stages, namely 1) analysis, 2) design, 3) development, 4) implementation and 5) evaluation. This paper focuses on analyzing, designing, and developing a prototype of a self-evaluation system for Vocational Schools based on semantic web ontology. The results show that the concept of web semantic technology can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of self-evaluation in vocational schools in Indonesia.

The ultimate goal of this paper is to discuss and develop the conceptual model of an Electrical E... more The ultimate goal of this paper is to discuss and develop the conceptual model of an Electrical Engineering Profession Certification based on Recognition of Prior Learning (EEPC-RPL) integrated with learning outcomes, assessment system and learning process for Engineer Profession Program in Yogyakarta State University (YSU), Indonesia. In Engineer Profession Program, Yogyakarta State University, the paper based Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) was used as a tools to evaluate competence of students' knowledge, skills and achievement. The method of this research used the research and development approach consisted of five steps, they are: 1) need analysis, 2) design the EEPC-RPL model, 3) development the EEPC-RPL system, 4) implementation of the system and 5) evaluation. There are fours concepts to be discussed: (a) aspects of EEPC based on RPL, (b) model of EEPC-RPL, (c) assessment system, and (d) learning outcomes of electrical engineer profession certification program.

Vocational education and training (VET) is education that design to prepare and produce a human r... more Vocational education and training (VET) is education that design to prepare and produce a human resource to ready work in various jobs, such as an operator or as a technician in electrical, automotive, construction and etc. In order to compete in the global marketplace, the
vocational educations must be maintained at the quality of graduates continuously. The ultimate goal of this research designs and implement the Self-Evaluation Management Information System (SEMIS) for Vocational School based on Indonesia national educational standard.
The SEMIS has developed by research and development approach uses ADDIE model consist five (5) steps are: 1) analysis, 2) design system and database, 3) development and testing the system 4) Implement SEMIS in vocational schools in Indonesia, and 5) Evaluation of the
system to improve performances. The research has resulted from the SEMIS as a self-evaluation system that can be implemented for Vocational School in Indonesia. The education and computer’s expert validation gave an average score of 3.40 (85.00%) and it’s rated as absolutely appropriate in overall aspects.

Pembelajaran praktik di Laboratorium bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa. Keberhasilan pembelajaran praktik di Laboratorium/Bengkel sangat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor diantaranya adalah sarana dan prasarana, kelengkapan peralatan di laboratorium, sumber daya manusia dan manajemen. Banyak Laboratorium sekolah tidak dapat berfungsi secara optimal dikarenakan oleh kurang baiknya manajemen. Untuk menjamin bahwa peralatan dan bahan yang ada di Laboratorium siap pakai setiap saat, dibutuhkan pengelolaan, perawatan dan perencanaan yang baik. Untuk dapat mewujudkan hal di atas diperlukan Kepala Laboratorium dan teknisi/laboran yang kompeten dan mempunyai pemahaman dan pengalaman dalam bidang manajemen Laboratorium. ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) that have prevailed at the end of 2015 bring many consequences in ... more ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) that have prevailed at the end of 2015 bring many consequences in flow of products, services, and human resources across ASEAN countries. Everyone can freely sell their products and use employments from ASEAN countries. This condition can enlarge employment opportunities, but it can threaten less skilled human resources position in a particular country. To confront the invasion of foreign workers from several countries, it is necessary to put up candidates who have qualified workforce that can be accepted in other countries. This article aims to reveal the students readiness in the face of the Asean Economic Community. The method used to reveal the students readiness in the face of Asean Economic Community (AEC) was done by survey. The aspect that were measured included knowledge, skills and mental. Data were collected by questionnaires from students of Faculty of Engineering Yogyakarta State University randomly. The results showed the readiness of students in the face of the Asean Economic Community can be categorized high with mean average score 2.99 (74.5%). In detail can be explained, readiness of students in the aspect of knowledge can be categorized high with average score 2.99 (78,5 %), the readiness of the students in the aspect of skills can be categorized high with average score 3.13 (78,5 %). The readiness of the students in the aspect of mental can be categorized high with average score 2.92 (73 %) and readiness in aspect of additonal work support can be categorized high with average score 2.92 (73 %). Pengantar Istilah industri pada mulanya digunakan dari pekerjaan tukang atau juru membuat alat. Pada awal kehidupan manusia, kebanyakan mata pencaharian orang pada saat itu berpindah-pindah dari kegiatan agraris sebagai pemetik hasil bumi, pemburu ikan dan binatang. Selanjutnya umat manusia mulai tinggal menetap dengan membangun rumah dan mengolah tanah dengan bertani dan berkebun serta beternak. Kebutuhan umat manusia terus berkembang seiring dengan kebutuhan jamannya untuk mendapatkan alat pemetik hasil bumi, alat berburu, alat menangkap ikan, alat bertani, berkebun, alat untuk menambang sesuatu, bahkan alat untuk berperang serta alat-alat kebutuhan rumah tangga lainnya. Meningkatnya kebutuhan umat manusia terhadap peralatan untuk bertani, berburu, beternak dan peralatan rumah tangga lainnya mendorong para tukang dan juru untuk membuat barang-barang kebutuhan umat manusia pada jaman itu. Perkembangan ini mulai meningkat sehingga muncul kerajinan dan pertukangan yang menghasilkan barang-barang kebutuhan manusia. Untuk menghasilkan produk yang berkualitas diperlukan pengrajin dan tukang yang professional. Untuk itulah mulai muncul pendidikan keterampilan baik kursus maupun magang. Meningkatnya peralatan kebutuhan manusia pada jaman itu mendorong tumbuhnya berbagai usaha. Salah satu usaha yang mengalami perkembangan pesat adalah bidang pertambangan besi dan baja. Pertumbuhan usaha ini berdampak pada kebutuhan bahan bakar seperti batubara, minyak bumi dan gas. Kedua hal itu memacu kemajuan teknologi permesinan yang dimulai dengan penemuan mesin uap yang selanjutnya membuka jalan pada pembuatan dan perdagangan barang secara besar-besaran dan massal pada akhir abad 18 dan awal abad 19. Pada awal perkembangannya usaha-usaha yang timbul pada saat itu adalah barang-barang yang dibutuhkan oleh manusia seperti pakaian, transportasi, kebutuhan rumah tangga dan kebutuhan lainnya. Beberapa industri yang muncul adalah pabrik tekstil (Lille dan Manchester), kereta api, industri baja (Essen), galangan kapal, pabrik mobil (Detroit) dan pabrik alumunium.
