Changes in Universities need to be prepared, enforced, and sustained to turn the universities int... more Changes in Universities need to be prepared, enforced, and sustained to turn the universities into institutions that can function effectively and efficiently. Kotter's change model is one of the most widely recognised models for leading change, and yet there are few case studies have been used this model in the academic literature. Therefore, this study aimed to test Kotter's change model at University of Khartoum. To do so, a qualitative research design was followed. To collect data a semi-structured interview was used with 11 leaders in the University of Khartoum. The thematic analysis has shown that create an environment for change depends on create urgency, and develop a vision for change that convinces staff members to participate in the change process. It is evident that the University of Khartoum has engaged and enabled the staff members in each college and work unit to embrace the change. Besides, the analysis indicated that for the change to be implemented and sustained it needs to removing obstacles and making it the university culture. The paper recommended that the importance of change must be embedded in the vision of the University of Khartoum to create a strong climate for change in the University environment.

The purpose of this study was to examine Kotter's leading change model at the Faculty of Educatio... more The purpose of this study was to examine Kotter's leading change model at the Faculty of Education University of Khartoum with a major purpose of evaluating the contribution of this theory to enhance the importance and understanding of leading change at the University context. In doing so, a survey research design was employed. Among 239 staff members at the Faculty of Education University of Khartoum, data were collected from 106 (44.00%) respondents using questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using one sample t-test. The result showed that creating a climate for change has been practised in the Faculty of Education University of Khartoum. The Faculty of Education University of Khartoum has engaged and enabled the whole organization in the change process. The findings also indicated that the Faculty of Education University of Khartoum has implemented and sustained change process. Hence, the implication of these findings adds to the understanding of how college officials ought to play a role model in embedding the change in their behaviors.

Knowledge management (KM) is becoming a very important issue in higher education, which drives th... more Knowledge management (KM) is becoming a very important issue in higher education, which drives the ability to collect and analyze information, transform knowledge and apply novelties. Therefore, this paper aimed at introducing a framework of thoughts for applying knowledge management in the Sudanese universities, depending on the analysis of the theoretical studies and the available literature related to the topic. In doing so, the researchers followed a qualitative and analytical type of research. To collect data, previous studies and papers, especially those related to higher education institutions are reviewed. The paper covered the basic concepts, definitions, justifications, and domains, besides the application of (KM) in the Sudanese universities. The main factors that can help in relieving difficulties facing (KM) are also discussed. The paper concluded that Sudanese Universities are considered the most suitable institutions to apply (KM), as they have a strong infrastructure that is favorable to the production and application of knowledge through the venues of investment in scientific research. The paper recommended the utmost necessity of adopting (KM) in the Sudanese universities as an approach to developing the individual and the official administrative to improve the level of outputs and to increase its capacity to adapt to all the prevalent changes and challenges. The use of knowledge management, according to this paper's inference, promotes staff members to advance both themselves and their universities by using this information to scientific research and studies.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of transformational leadership on job satisfaction amo... more This study aimed to investigate the effect of transformational leadership on job satisfaction among staff of Gezira University. To this end, this study used a correlational research design. 332 participants were taken through stratified random sampling techniques. Data were collected from staff members using a closed-ended questionnaire. Data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics like mean scores, one-sample ttest, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis respectively. The study found that transformational leadership was practiced at Gezira University with its different dimensions. The aggregate level of staff job satisfaction at Gezira University was high in general. The results also indicate that there was a positive and moderate relationship between transformational leadership practices and job satisfaction at Gezira University. Besides, transformational leadership effect the level of job satisfaction at Gezira University. The study recommended Gezira University should organize training programs, courses, and workshops aimed at equipping staff members with leadership skills and competencies that enhance the practices of transformational leadership.

Therefore, a leader in an institution can take any type of leadership style via the circumstances on the ground to reach the effective and efficient work in an organization. Hence, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between principals' leadership styles and teacher's job performances in secondary school of Omdurman locality, Sudan. In doing so, a descriptive research was employed. A sample size of 160, (85) male, and (75) female was responded. The data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed quantitatively using SPSS. The study showed that secondary schools principals frequently practice the democratic leadership style. There is strong significant relationship between leadership styles and teachers' job performance. The researchers recommended that, principals should adopt democratic leadership style in their schools so that can lead to better performance.

Girls' education in the 21st Century, is not only a women's issue it is a development issue. Girl... more Girls' education in the 21st Century, is not only a women's issue it is a development issue. Girls' education is `positively correlated with increased economic productivity, more robust labor markets, higher earnings, and improved societal health and well-being. Nevertheless, Sudan has witnessed low development of girls' education because of the country's traditions. Parents tended to look upon girls' education with suspicion, if not fear, that it would corrupt the morals of their daughters. Moreover, preference was given to sons, who, by education, could advance in society to the pride and profit of their family. Therefore, this study aimed to assess girls' education policy in Sudan. In doing so, this study followed a descriptive qualitative approach to the type of library research in which the data collection technique was carried out based on literature data. The study confirmed that there are several barriers to girls' education in Sudan including economic factors (i.e. cost of educational materials, girls are needed at home to contribute to the household economy), cultural factors (early marriages, tradition, and customs), and school factors (motivation as the lack of female role models). The researcher suggests that the authorities should enforce laws against the marriage of young girls. In addition, schools should be built in such a way that they are close to villages, allowing girls to attend. Furthermore, the nomads should be given lectures to be aware of the necessity of girls' education.

There is a necessary need for expanding educational services to cover this vast number of scholars. The existing service is showing a clear deficit through physical, human, and spatial limitations. This illustrates the necessity to employ modern technologies such as mobile devices (iPad) to support education. Therefore, this paper seeks to review the use of mobile device (iPad) technology in education and explore the opportunities and challenges of utilizing iPad technology in the education system of Sudan. This paper reached to the use of mobile device (iPad) technology in the Sudanese education system providing opportunities for networking learning, social learning, interactive learning, and distance learning. There are several challenges facing the utilization of mobile device (iPad) technology in the Sudanese education system in which the delivery of information by traditional methods is better than the use of mobile learning, there is no clear plan for the usage of mobile devices by the competent authorities, lack of training to use and employ the mobile learning. The paper recommended providing facilities to improve opportunities to incorporate technology into the Sudanese education system.
Organizational commitment is considered an essential concept for ensuring work and staff motivati... more Organizational commitment is considered an essential concept for ensuring work and staff motivation in a higher education setting. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the staffs' degree of organizational commitment to the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum. To investigate research questions, a survey questionnaire was conducted. Among 239 respondents, 106 staff members were surveyed (44.00%). The results indicated that the degree of staff affective, continuance, and normative commitment in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum, was high. This study also confirmed that the aggregate degree of organizational commitment among staff members in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum, was high. The study revealed no statistically significant difference in the degree of organizational commitment due to gender and academic rank variables. The study also found a statistically significant difference in affective and normative commitment in the degree of organizational commitment related to years of service. The study recommended improving the worldly position of the staff member to maintain a high degree of responsibility at the University of Khartoum.

in the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum, from the faculty
members’ perspective. To achieve this objective, the descriptive method was
used by administering a questionnaire on a sample of 51 faculty members.
The questionnaire consisted of 54 items divided into 6 fields: Offered
Programs, System of Assessment and Evaluation, Diversity, Field Experience,
Professional Development of Staff, Resources and Governance. The data
were analyzed by using one sample T-test, and Mann-Whitney test for the
difference between the independent grade averages, and the analysis of
variance. The results showed a moderate level of the“NCATE” Standards
in the Faculty of Education, from the faculty members’ perspective. There
were no differences between males and females in applying the“NCATE”
Standards in the Faculty of Education except in the system of assessment and
evaluation in favor of males. Also, there were no differences in the“NCATE”
Standards from the faculty members’ perspective attributed to the academic
rank. The study recommended conducting more studies about the obstacles
of applying the“NCATE” Standards in the Faculty of Education, University of
Khartoum.
The aims of this study to identify the predominant management style practiced by principals in pr... more The aims of this study to identify the predominant management style practiced by principals in private primary schools in Omdurman locality; to analyse the relationship between management styles and teachers' performance; and to examine the effect of management style practiced by principals on teachers' performance. The study employed survey research designs using a questionnaire. 45 of teachers were selected using simple random sampling. The results indicate that the democratic management style is the predominant style practiced in private primary schools in Omdurman locality. Laissez-faire and autocratic management styles were not practiced by principals in private primary schools in Omdurman locality. The study also revealed that management styles were low and positively correlated with the teachers' performance. Management style had an effect on teachers' performance by the contribution of the democratic management style that caused 25.1% of the variance in the teachers' performance. The study recommended schools principals should be encouraged to continue on democratic management style with taking into account other management styles according to the situation.

This study tried to capture staff members' perception of the creating a climate for change, engaging and enabling the whole organization and implementing and sustaining change. In doing so, a survey research design was employed. Data were collected using questionnaire from university's staff members. The result shows high level of change leadership practices in the University of Khartoum with its different dimensions. Consequently, creating a climate for change has practiced in the University of Khartoum. The University of Khartoum has engaged and enabled the whole organization in the change process. The findings indicate that the University of Khartoum has implemented and sustained change process. Besides, no statistically significant difference between the male and female groups in the extent of change leadership practices. Therefore, it was reflected that the university leaders should make a strong case for the necessity of the change prior to implementation. Overall, the vision, strategies and objectives of the University of Khartoum should involve the importance of change. In addition, extra efforts should be made to maintain change leadership culture in the University of Khartoum.
