Due to very limited attention that has been given to the examination of the adoption of social me... more Due to very limited attention that has been given to the examination of the adoption of social media tools by non-profit organizations especially in Libya, this paper has explored how non-profit organizations have adopted and used Facebook to achieve their goals.Therefore, through the perceptions of 24 Informants, the study discovered that environmental factors and Facebook dynamism motivated the adoption and use of Facebook to drive non-profit organizations.The analysis covered both the perceptions of managers of the organizations as well as the donors.In order to achieve clearer understanding of these perspectives, the study adequately supported each of the theme, sub-theme and sub sub-theme with model generated by NVivo 10.The findings provide more understanding for nonprofits organizations, donors and companies serving the non-profit sector concerning the most significant behaviour and trends that revolve around Facebook as part of non-profits’ organizations marketing, communica...

In response to the challenges, this paper explores the perceptions of the managers and donors of non-profit organizations on how Facebook can take care of the difficulties of building trust and maintaining relationship which are the bedrock of fundraising and donation. Therefore, this research explores how strength of trust and relationship as fostered by the use of Facebook influences attitudes of donors and public in Libya toward volunteering for and making charitable gifts to support non-profit organizations. Thematic data analysis technique was used to analyze interviews data. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are significant implementation of corpora... more The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are significant implementation of corporate social responsibility which is measured using the global reporting initiative 3.1 towards the investor response as measured using the abnormal return. The sample used in this study were 324 company years in the trade, services, and investment in the research period of 2008-2012. The results of this study demonstrate that corporate social responsibility has positive effect on abnormal returns. While the results of the control variables, namely return on assets, the size of the company, debt to equity ratio, and the market share does not affect the abnormal return.

Previous studies have rarely compared between the extent to which news gratifications sought are obtanied in the conventional media and the extent to which the news gratifications are sought and obtained in the online media. Through a qualitative approach, this study employs a uses and gratifications approach to compare how news gratifications are sought and obtained in both the online and conventional media. Indepth interviews were conducted with 14 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nigeria between January and April, 2014. Qualitative analysis was done on Nvivo 10 software for a thorough and transparent analysis. Investigation reveals why news gratifications are less sought but more obtained in the conventional media and why news gratifications are more sought but less obtained in the online media.

Previous studies have also explored news consumption among ethnic groups through the uses and gratifications approach. However, most of this effort has focussed on international ethnic groups with little attention on intra-ethnic settings. This study examines the influence of ethnic identity on news motives among the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria.. We also examine the relationship between ethnic identity and gender as predictors of news usage. Survey questionnaires were administered on 400 undergraduates in three universities in Nigeria between January and April, 2014. We use Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach to measure the relationships among the variables. Findings show that there is a significant difference among the ethnic groups in news usage

This study explored the framing of the Iraqi war of 2003 by the British newspapers namely The Gua... more This study explored the framing of the Iraqi war of 2003 by the British newspapers namely The Guardian and The Independent. The study revealed how Iraq war was covered and what media frames were employed by the British newspapers. For this, editorials of these newspapers were analyzed by employing the technique of thematic analysis. By analyzing the data, it was found that British press mostly framed Iraq war in a negative stance. The British newspapers frequently adopted anti war frame and criticized British government support to the Iraqi attack. The British press was more concerned about humanitarian and rebuilding issues in Iraq. Overall, it was noted that the coverage of Iraq attack was dominated by oppositional themes and press did not support government policy on Iraq crisis.

What frames were employed by the newspapers of these two countries in the reporting of Afghanistan attack.For this purpose four newspapers were chosen from Britian and Pakistan namely The Dawn, The Nation, The Independent and The Guardian.The editorilas of these newspapers were analysed by employing the technique of thematic analysis. By analysing the data, it was found that Pakistani and British press mostly framed the coverage of Afghanistan war in a negative stance but at certain points Britsh press adopted positive or neutral stance.Anti war frame was dominnently employed by Pakistani newspapers but humanitrian and rebuilding frames were also observed.Likewise, Britsh press mostly covered Afghanistan under anti war frame but at some points pro war frame was also observed.Overall, it was noted that Pakistani press was more dominated by opposotional and critical themes than British newspapers.

This observable fact to this day in Malaysia is still in the state of infancy. Therefore, in order to investigate what cyber bullying is all about; the author has conducted a grounded theory study of cyber bullying to explore the aspects of cyber bullying phenomenon among adolescents in Malaysian context. Most of these studies focus on international migrants with little empirical attention on intra-national migrants. Besides, most of these studies have not examined migration within the context of ethnic variables like ethnic identity. This study is examining a possible moderating effect of migration on ethnic identity as a predictor of news usage among the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria. Survey questionnaires were administered on 400 undergraduates in three universities in Nigeria between January and April, 2014. We use Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach to measure the relationships among the variables Findings show ethnic migration having a significant moderating effect on ithe predictive power of ethnic identity on news gratifications.
