One of the tasks of the state specified in Article 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of 2 April 1997 is to ensure security of its citizens. The aim of the study is to show a relationship between crimes against document credibility listed in Chapter XIX of the Penal Code and the security of citizens. The main conclusion resulting from the analysis of the selected topic was that forgery of travel documents is a significant factor threatening citizen safety. The above results from the fact that documents very often serve as both an object and a tool in many crimes. Therefore, they constitute an activity of a preparatory nature before committing further criminal acts, as well as a way of hiding traces of other crimes. It should be emphasized that the use of false documents, and thus their introduction into legal circulation, means that a person illegally using such documents legally acquires many rights.

Printed documents are very frequently encountered in forensic cases as disputed or questioned documents. With increasing number of such cases, the printer inspection in has become a major requirement in questioned document examination in recent years considering the extensive use printers in document creation in comparison to handwritten papers. Also, the counterfeiting of printed documents by various printers have been recorded at a large scale in last two decades. In such cases, it is very much required by the investigators to examine and identify the type of printer used and to establish a linkage of the questioned document with the alleged printer. The current study is focused on the examination, analysis and identification of various types of printed documents on the basis of their specific characteristics including resolution, edge contrast, letter roughness and feathering formed from diverse printers to differentiate and classify them for forensic questioned document examination and to assist the forensic expert and questioned document examiner thorough such investigations. In this study three types of printers i.e. two inkjet printers, two laser printers, and two different dot-matrix printers were used to collected the printed documents. The samples were analyzed using Projectina Inspec-8 and Stereomicroscope. Each printer has its uniqueness in printing documents, and this study aims to figure out that particular uniqueness at the documents after printing from the alleged printer. The observations revealed substantial differences in the letter’s characteristics. This study may be a useful to discriminate the documents printed from different types of printers.
BORDER SECURITY AND MANAGEMENT, 2020
The subject of the paper "Analysis of False Documents Detected at the Border Control of European Union Member States and the Prospective Methods for the Detection of Counterfeits" is topical, as the verification of the authenticity of travel documents is the cornerstone of border controls; also, the interrelations between the techniques of producing false documents discovered in the EU Member States and the practical application of technologically new methods of document reproduction has not been extensively reviewed and evaluated in EU scientific literature and current information materials. Identity fraud is expensive: from bank accounts opened with false names to money laundering and all kinds of smuggling and terrorism. The endless variety of criminal activities gives false documents a high value. In addition, for 3 billion travelers worldwide, identity verification needs to be fast, unproblematic and effective. Due to the pressure on borders (time constraints and an i...

Forensic handwriting examination has a new frontier: the digital signature in biometric modality that uses, for recognition purposes, the anatomic and behavioral characteristics that an individual exhibit when signing her/his name. Data such as the dynamically captured direction, stroke, distance, size, pressure and shape of an individual's signature enable handwriting to be a reliable indicator of an indivudul's identity. "Namirial" is an Italian company that created a biometric signature system named "GrafoCerta" (sure signature) that has a forensic sector particularly suitable for research. In this paper the researcher will try to explain the different characteristics of handwriting examination and examination of questioned document.
