Students’ Ability in Writing Report Text of Grade XI at SMK Negeri 1 Painan

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks laporan. fokus penelitian ini adalah pada kemampuan siswa dalam menulis Generic Structure dan Language Feature dari teks laporan. partisipan dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMK Negeri 1 Painan. Dalam mengambil sampel, peneliatian ini mengunakan stratified random sampling. Data pada penelitian ini adalah berasal dari teks yang di tulis oleh siswa. kemudian, dalam mengumpulkan data tersebut menggunakan tes menulis. Tes tersebut kemudian di nilai dengan mengunakan rubrik penilaian. Berdasarkan data analisis ditemukan bahwa tidak ada siswa yang memiliki kemampuan Luar Biasa dan Sangat Bagus dalam menulis Teks Laporan, 5 siswa memiliki kemampuan Bagus, 14 siswa memiliki kemampuan Cukup, kemudian 7 siswa memiliki kemampuan Buruk dan 4 siswa memiliki kemampuan Sangat Buruk. Berdasarkan analisis data menunjukan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks laporan adalah Cukup. kemudian, hampir semua siswa tidak lulus nilai batas minimum yaitu 7. oleh karena itu penggunaan pendekatan dan teknik mengajar yang tepat harus dilakukan.

PLEASE (Pick, List, Evaluate, Activate, Supply, and End) Strategy Toward Student’s Writing Achievement on Recount Text

The thesis entitled "The Influence of Using PLEASE (Pick, List, Evaluate, Activate, Supply And End) Strategy Toward Student's Writing Achievement on Recount Text at The Tenth Grade of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja". The problem of this study as follows "Is there any significant differences between the students who are taught by using the PLEASE strategy and who are not taught by using the PLEASE strategy toward student's wri ting achievement on recount text at the tenth grade of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja?". In this study, the writer used a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study was the tenth-grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja, with the total of the population was 64 students. Whereas, the sample of the study was 40 students were taken by using purposive sampling, those were 20 students of X IPS 1 as experimental group and 20 students of X IPS 2 as the control group. Moreover, the writer used a written test. The data obtained from Independent t-test analysis, between the result of the post-test in experimental class and control class. Based on the calculation by using an Independent t-test, the researcher found that tobtained was higher than ttable (6.211> 1.697) at the significance level ɑ = 0.05 in a two-tailed test. So, the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that there was any significant difference in teaching writing by using PLEASE Strategy in SMA Pangudi Luhur.

Improving Writing Skills By Using PLEASE Strategy of Seventh Grade Students at MTs Nurul Falah Air Mesu Pangkalanbaru

The main purposes of this thesis were to know the implementation of PLEASE strategy in improving writing skills and to know whether any significant difference or not in improving writing skills of the students who were taught by using PLEASE strategy. In this thesis the researcher used quantitative approach with quasi-experimental design. The population of the study was all of the seventh grade students of MTs Nurul Falah Air Mesu Pangkalanbaru that consist of 129 students, while the samples of the research were 61 students. The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test. Improving Writing Proficiency through The 3M (Meniru-Mengolah-Mengembangkan) Writing Strategy for Grade VI SD Negeri 8 Kilensari Panarukan Sub-District of Situbondo District in 2014/2015 Academic Year

Students have a different level of prose writing proficiency. Some students are already able to write a prose pretty well while some others are not. This condition is aggravated by students' low motivation in writing. Therefore, an effective writing learning strategy is needed. In teaching and learning process, especially in a school environment, teachers play an important role so that a learning strategy serves as a tool to improve learning. The research design used was CARcollaborating another teacherthat was set to 2 cycles. Based on the research findings of the implementation of 3M prose writing strategy in the first cycle, students who passed were by 50% of 18 students. In the second cycle, on the other hand, students who passed were about 89%. It means that there was 39% improvement from the first cycle. We can see that the implementation of 3M prose writing strategy can improve the sixth-grade students' prose writing proficiency at SD Negeri 8 Kilensari Panarukan Situbondo Academic Year of 2014/2015.

Improving the Students’ Writing Through Note-Taking Technique to the Tenth Grade Students of State Senior High School 7 Palembang

This study aims to improving the students’ writing ability through note-taking technique. This study applied the quasi-experiment method. The population of this study was all of the tenth grade students with a total number of 318 students and 80 students were taken as sample in experimental and control group. In collecting the data, a written test of descriptive paragraph was used, and the data were analysed by using SPSS 23. The result of this study showed that experimental group students’ average score in pre-test was 65.10 and in post-test it was 72.26 while in control group, students’ average score in pre-test 66.03 and in post-test it was 69.88. the value t-obtained was 3.082 which was higher than the value of t-table 2.000 at the significant level 0.05 in two tailed test with 78 (df). Summaring task and its impact on students writing achievement at ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 8 Buton Tengah

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh tugas merangkum terhadap prestasi menulis siswa kelas sembilan di SMP Negeri 8 Buton Tengah. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menerapkan desain eksperimental yang digunakan untuk menguji kemampuan siswa di kelas eksperimen yang dihasilkan dari pengajaran menulis melalui tugas meringkas dan kemampuan siswa di kelas kontrol yang dihasilkan dari pengajaran menulis dengan teknik konvensional. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 44 siswa SMP Negeri 8 Buton Tengah. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui pre-test dan post-test. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes menulis. Data dianalisis secara statistik. Setelah menganalisis data, ditemukan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari prestasi menulis siswa yang diajarkan melalui meringkas tugas dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional pada siswa kelas sembilan di SMP Negeri 8 Buton Tengah. Itu bisa dilihat dari hasil penelitian sig. atau p 0,013 < α = 0,05. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan tugas meringkas dapat meningkatkan prestasi menulis siswa siswa kelas sembilan SMP Negeri 8 Buton Tengah.

Improving the Eighth Grade Students’ Writing Skills Through Picture-Cued Activities at SMP N 1 Wonosari in the Academic Year of 2012/2013

This study was aimed at improving the students" writing skills of the eighth grade at SMP N 1 Wonosari through picture-cued activities. Based on the preliminary observation, there were some problems in the teaching and learning process of writing. They dealt with students" writing skills related to students" participation, motivation, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. The solution for these problems was applying picture-cued activities in the teaching and learning process. This research consisted of two cycles. Each cycle had two meetings. The subjects of the research were the students of VIIIC class, the English teacher and the researcher. The data collection techniques were observation, interview and tests. The data were in the forms of field notes, interview transcripts and scores of the pretest and the posttest. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The researcher analyzed the qualitative data through three steps: 1) reducing, 2) displaying, and 3) verifying the data. The quantitative data were analyzed by means of the descriptive technique to obtain the mean and the standard deviation. Meanwhile, the t-test was used to investigate the improvement. The validity of the research was accomplished by adopting five criteria of validity: 1) democratic validity, 2) outcome validity, 3) process validity, 4) catalytic validity and 5) dialogic validity. The results of the research showed that the use of picture-cued activities was able to improve students" writing skills. Based on the qualitative data, the students could develop their ideas to produce a descriptive text with appropriate use of vocabulary, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization. They also enthusiastically joined the teaching and learning activities. Based on the quantitative data, the students" mean score for the writing skill improved. In the pretest, the students" mean score was 48.61. Then, after Cycle 1 (posttest 1), the students" mean score was 60.60. At last, after Cycle 2 (posttest 2), the students" mean score was 76.22.
