WHAT MAKES DOMESTIC TOURISTS SATISFIED? AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF SRINAGAR (JAMMU & KASHMIR
Today, the world is changing rapidly and tourists' preferences are also changing consistently. When and where tourists' preferences changes, it reflects from tourists' attitude towards the destination and destination elements. Hence, this study is an attempt to examine the domestic tourist satisfaction on their visit to Srinagar and analysis of attractiveness of Srinagar. Srinagar is the main city and headquarter of Kashmir valley. It is also summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir State. However, in this study, desk and empirical research approaches are used to accomplish the objectives. This research is required to understand and considers tourists' perceptions towards Srinagar as a tourist destination; because any destination should be tourist oriented for high tourist satisfaction, as tourist satisfaction is key for destination success. Satisfied tourists are the brand ambassadors of a particular tourist destination which uses 'Word of Mouth' method to hype a particular tourist destination and suggest the same destination to others. The results of the study reveal that Srinagar is naturally and culturally very important destination and, almost, all the tourist facilities are available there. However, the food and beverage, transport and accommodation sectors are not up to the mark. Therefore, the service providers of these sectors need to review their existing policies and strategies related to these areas in order to upgrade the services to satisfy the tourists in a better way.
Evaluating and understanding the tourist experience: an empirical study in Jammu and Kashmir

The aim of the present study is to identify and understand the tourist experience construct, and how it differs by their age, sex, income level, education and to suggest and recommend the strategies to develop the Jammu and Kashmir as a tourist destination and enhance its brand image. The study was carried out by collecting relevant information from secondary data sources, which included books, journals and reports published by government of India, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. A self structured Questionnaire was designed and distributed among the domestic and international tourists who visited Jammu & Kashmir. The sample size was 291 and the study was conducted in the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir. Data analysis was done by applying factor analysis, and descriptive statistics. There were five factors those constituted the tourist experience like ''Transportation and Service by the different Carriers', 'Services at the Destination', 'Hotels and restaurants', 'Infrastructure at the destination' and Safety Security and Crowd Management' and out of these the first two leaves the implications for further improving and developing the destinations in Jammu and Kashmir. The outcomes of the study as whole have significant managerial implications for destination marketing managers.
An Evaluative study of tourism Industry in Jammu and Kashmir: A Northern state of India
This paper attempts to make an in-depth study of tourism, which would help in developing the course of tourism industry in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Tourism is considered as one sector that can propel growth, contribute foreign exchange, and provide employment that too to low skilled persons. One of the important dimensions of tourism is the cultural exchange among various nationalities and among the people of different states. As on one hand, tourism is seen as an economic option and on the other side the greater social and human effect. Jammu and Kashmir offers different types of tourism, which are highlighted in this paper, which type of tourism is most liked and is popular among tourists, is also presented in this paper for proper development of tourism industry in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Tourist Satisfaction and Development:a case study of Jabalpur
The study is taken to find out the factors affecting tourist’s satisfaction in the tourism industry of Jabalpur (M.P.). The study was based on primary data from 200 tourists visiting the tourist spots of Jabalpur and secondary data collected from various journals, reference books and tourism department of Madhya Pradesh. A structured questionnaire was prepared for data collection regarding facilities for tourists, availability of hotels, travel guides and agents, safety measures for tourists, attraction for hot spots, Innovations in tourism etc. The questionnaire used 5-point likert scale and statistical tools like survey and chi square method for data analysis. The hypotheses for the study were 1. There is strong correlation between tourist satisfaction and development of the concern places or 2. Facilities available in tourism leave positive effect on development of tourist places. The result of the study disclosed that there is strong relation between tourist satisfaction and development of the tourist spots. If the tourists are satisfied with the facilities available on tourist places, the place will automatically developed. The study observed that inefficient tourism policies, lack of tourism facilities and infrastructural development, incompetent facilities, lack of safety and innovations in tourism spots affect the satisfaction of tourists. The study provides an approach to the Jabalpur Tourism Industry to conquer such above mentioned inadequacies and barricades. In the form of suggestion, adventure tourism with facilities can be introduced, budget should be provided to develop the spots as well as infrastructure with roads. Hotel, guide and safety should be available for new tourists so that they can feel relax and satisfied.
Opportunities and Challenges to Tourism Industry: A Case Study of Jammu and Kashmir

This paper analyzed the different challenges and opportunities available for the tourism industry in the present global competitive environment apart from giving brief introduction to the tourism and tourism industry of Jammu and Kashmir. The data used for this research work is secondary data. This paper is compiled into two parts. The first part of the paper provides a brief introduction about the tourism industry of Jammu and Kashmir and tries to put light on different areas of the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir (leisure tourism, pilgrimage tourism, adventure tourism, trekking, skiing, winter sports etc.). The second part of the paper tries to find various challenges and opportunities available to the tourism industry of Jammu and Kashmir and give proper suggestions in order to utilized these challenges and opportunities in the positive manner for the betterment of the tourism industry, by making brief review of the various research papers and research work done by the researchers in the field of tourism industry.
A STUDY OF SATISFACTION LEVEL OF TOURISTS VISITING UTTARAKHAND

Uttarakhand being abode to exquisite natural beauty is a popular tourist destination for both in-country and foreign tourists. The study seeks to assess the satisfaction level of the tourists and inconveniences faced by the tourists visiting Uttarakhand during the summer season. Mussoorie and Nainital are taken as the areas of the study, being the two most famous hill station of Uttarakhand. A sample size of 275 respondents was selected with the help of convenience sampling technique. The data analysis was conducted through HOLSAT Model propounded by Tribe and Snaith (1998) and paired t-test. The study revealed that there is dissatisfaction and inconveniences among the tourists related to the basic services such as parking space, non-manageable traffic, non-availability of local transport, medical facilities and high priced hotels. On the contrary, the pleasant climate and natural beauty makes the tourists contended with their visit. The findings indicate that Mussoorie and Nainital built by the Britishers have reached their saturation level and there is a serious need to develop other tourist destinations in Uttarakhand, to diversify the current inflow of the tourists and provide them with a satisfied experience. The development of new destinations will help to the State on the path of self-sustenance and also deal with the chronic problem of migration. Tourist Perception and Satisfaction Level: A study of East Sikkim Tourism Industry

Tourism activities in the Sikkim have started after the merger of the state with the Indian Union. The tourism industry in the Sikkim is in its infancy stage. The main of this research was to find out the tourist satisfaction with regard to the quality of the facilities and services provided in Sikkim. Both primary and secondary data has been used to get information about the status of rural tourism Sikkim. Primary data was collected through field survey and personal observation. Secondary data was collected through the research paper, government report and web sources. Data has been analyzed by using various methods and techniques and presented in the form of map works, diagrams, pie charts, etc. From the analysis of data, it was found that the majority of tourists are satisfied with the behavior of the host population but the services provided over there are not up to the mark.
SATISFACTION OF DOMESTIC TOURISTS VISITING GULMARG IN JAMMU AND KASHMIR, INDIA
Gulmarg in Kashmir valley is globally acclaimed round the year tourist destination with extensive natural beauty and impressive snow-covered mountains. Gulmarg host many tourists annually. To maintain and escalate the existing charm of Gulmarg needs combined efforts from all tourism stakeholders of Gulmarg. But the more important thing is to evaluate the tourists' satisfaction, factors affecting their satisfaction, their intention to revisit and willingness to recommend Gulmarg to other people. Consequently, the present study aims to find out the answers to these questions. Study findings are based on the responses of 115 domestic (Indian) respondents from the study area. The study results reveal that tourists are satisfied with destination aspects and they are willing to revisit and recommend Gulmarg to other people as well. However, in some cases, tourists are not satisfied. The concerned service renders must review their existing customer based policies and improve service quality for the sack of their own business and destination image.
