Perception of Entrepreneurial Orientation and Emotional Intelligence

The present study examined the relationship between emotional intelligence and entrepreneurial orientation on a sample of 301 students (future techno-managers) randomly selected from different departments of engineering and management of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India. All the respondents were administered on the scales of emotional intelligence and entrepreneurial orientation. The findings of the study showed positively significant correlation among the variables of emotional intelligence and entrepreneurial orientation. Regression analysis revealed significant contribution of emotional intelligence in predicting entrepreneurial orientation. The future implications of the study have been discussed in the light of empirical findings and in the context of effective entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial management.

Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial culture are receiving an increased amount of attention in both academic research and practice. Entrepreneurship is linked with value creation and, as such, is thought to have a significant impact on economic growth, continuous business renewal, and employment (Tang and Koreas, 2004). Emotional intelligence and entrepreneurial orientation

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of managers' emotional intelligence, organizational climate and employees' creativity on industrial small to medium-sized enterprises' (SMEs') entrepreneurial orientation. Design/methodology/approach-A quantitative survey methodology was adopted to collect data from industrial SMEs' owner-managers in Jordan. A sample of 317 managers from 418 SMEs, located at three Jordanian industrial estates, was used. Data were analyzed using AMOS 16.0 to determine the interactions between the various factors. Findings-Empirical findings confirmed that managers' emotional intelligence, organizational climate and employees' creativity had a positive direct effect on industrial SMEs' entrepreneurial orientation. In addition, managers' emotional intelligence had a positive direct effect on organizational climate. In turn organizational climate had a positive direct effect on employees' creativity. Practical implications-The current study could be useful to managers to understand the role of emotional intelligence, organizational climate and employees' creativity, as important antecedents of entrepreneurial orientation, in encouraging entrepreneurial culture towards enhancing the company's entrepreneurial orientation level, and the possible positive effect it could have on their organizations' success. Originality/value-This study advanced the literature in the field of entrepreneurship by testing a new model of entrepreneurial orientation that links between managers' emotional intelligence, organizational climate and employees' creativity as antecedents of entrepreneurial orientation in the context of industrial SMEs. While such perspective is considerably new and relevant to general marketing literature, the fact that this paper is one of few papers that focus on entrepreneurial orientation in Jordan adds to its originality.

The concept of emotional intelligence has acquired the attention of the researchers for enhancing entrepreneurial success in the survival of the entrepreneurial ventures for quite sometimes, but researchers further explore why some entrepreneurial ventures are more successful in their business than others. Comparative study of Emotional Intelligence and Entrepreneurial Orientation between Malaysian and Indonesian University Students

This paper presents a comparative study of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) between students of two universities from Malaysia and Indonesia. The study investigates the extent to which EI and EO test scores vary among the students. EI showed different scores between students of the two universities. The importance of EI also differs between two universities. EI and EO collectively have an impact on Entrepreneurial Inclination of Indonesian students, but only EO was significant for Malaysian students. Recommendation is provided for future research.

This study contends that emotional intelligence has repercussions on entrepreneurial performance. This investigation interrogates and affirms the link ascribing emotional intelligence to entrepreneurial performance. This investigation adopted the qualitative research method, with the use of secondary data sourced from extended and informed literature from the 1990s still date. A Systematic Literature Review of Emotional Intelligence and Entrepreneurial Abilities

The phenomenon of intelligence has changed its definition and perception through the last many decades. Emotional intelligence surfaced way back in 1920 and today has become one of the most discussed and researched topics. This article attempts to explore the possible relationship between emotional intelligence and entrepreneurship and discusses the ways in which emotional intelligence can impact budding or established entrepreneurs in their journey towards business success. The authors have reviewed the existing literature in this context and compiled the most relevant and interesting pieces of information on this subject. The authors find that based on existing research, it is evident that emotional intelligence has a strong positive correlation with entrepreneurial abilities.

THE IMPACT OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE ON THE GROWTH OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Emotional Intelligence improves an individual’s social effectiveness which is considered as one of the important element of the success of an entrepreneurship. Higher the emotional intelligence the better social network, which in turns lead to better business relations. The objectives of the study was, to find out the level of emotional intelligence of the entrepreneurs and the difference between the group, gender and age and to find out the percentage of growth of the entrepreneurs and how emotional intelligence has an impact on its growth. The sample for the study consisted of 50 entrepreneurs which are selected randomly from different locations of Hyderabad. These samples again sorted out based on the monthly turnover above Rs. 100,000.The study states that there is no significant difference between the scores of emotional intelligence regarding gender and age. It also states that there is a significant difference between the scores of emotional intelligence and growth percentage of the entrepreneurs. So, emotional intelligence has a greater impact on the growth of enterprises.
