The focus of this paper is to provide an overview of the nature of business process oriented tools and to develop a procedure that could help managers in the selection process in relation to the project goals, critical success factors, and business process oriented tools criteria. The proposed procedure is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which is flexible and can be adapted to different company and project types.
A Multi Staged Method for Selection of BPM Software

Purpose-Interest in business process management among users is growing every day. Business process management (BPM) is one of the drivers of digital transformation. There are several different tools that focus on various aspects of BPM. Thus, it is difficult to choose the most suitable solution among them. The purpose of this article is to select the BPM software that best fits the criteria, after determining the criteria to be considered. Design/methodology/approach-This article provides a multi staged method for determining the criteria that can be used when selecting BPM software that is planned to be purchased in a particular company. Additionally, this study concluded with the selection of the most appropriate BPM solution. The multi staged method is based on NGT, Delphi and AHP. Findings: A comprehensive list of BPM system selection factors are created after an in-depth study of the literature. Proposed approach is applied to a problem of decision-making process in a company. An initial investment into the right BPM software could save companies more in the long term than they would expect. Originality: Even though there are many studies related to enterprise software selection such as ERP and CRM, there are few studies about BPM software selection. With its multi staged structure focus on BPM software, it differs from the software selection literature.
Project Management Software Selection Using Analytic Hierarchy Process Method
Today, project management software is essential for organizations to better manage their projects, reduce their costs, shorten schedules and be more responsive to customer demands. Software selection process is a critical issue for future growth and competitiveness of the company; moreover project management software selection also has a profound effect on the operation or control of the projects to be successful. The aim of this research is to focus on selection of project management software using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The selection criteria is specified by experts of mostly used 3 project management software packages, namely HP-PPM, MS-Project and Primavera. These criteria are evaluated by 5 project managers from different companies for these 3 project management tools. Results have specified that HP-PPM is the most appropriate tool among other two project tools in the scope of the interviewed companies.

The rapid evolution of information systems has triggered drastic changes in business schemes. This phenomenon has led to the rise of Business Process Management. Business Process Management consists of the concepts, methods, techniques and software tools that assist the life cycle of business processes. The implementation of BPM solutions is not an easy task due to the existence of different Business Process Modelling (BPM) techniques. Thus, organizations seek for BPM to make informed decisions about the appropriate technique that fits their needs. An Evaluation Framework for Business Process Management Products

The number of BPM products available has increased substantially in the last years, so that choosing among these products became a difficult task for potential BPM users. This paper defines a framework for evaluating BPM products, and discusses how this framework has been applied in the development of an open and objective evaluation method for these products. Our framework has been developed based on the BPM lifecycle we developed as a result of a thorough literature survey. Our method consists of a set of criteria, a test case and a rating schema. The paper also discusses how we evaluated our method (and indirectly our framework) by applying it to three BPM tool suites. We show that our method allows the rigorous comparison of these products according to different criteria, so that the choice of BPM product can be tuned to the specific goals of the users of these products.
Towards Selecting Among Business Process Modeling Methodologies

The problem o f selecting the business process modeling methodology best suited for the business process modeling task at hand is often hampered by the conditions under which t he selection is made. In this paper we sketch the foundations of a framework for selecting business process modeling methods. We base this framework on the Analytic Hierarchy P rocess. We therefore use a hierarchy of characteristics of business process modeling methodologies for our selection approach. To demonstrate how our approach works we discuss its application to two business p rocess modeling tasks. We have developed a software tool that implements our framework. We describe this tool briefly in this paper.

The enabling role of technology for effective business process management (BPM) is not being doubted. However, finding the right tool that suits a company's specific requirements is usually a challenging task. This paper presents a novel decision framework for the critical assessment of BPM tools which maps company requirements to different levels of BPM maturity and thus aims to be applicable in various organizational contexts. The framework includes emerging BPM features such as sophisticated process simulation capabilities and the support of common IT reference models and is complemented by a decision model which provides for complex preferences and uncertainty throughout the assessment process. We demonstrate the applicability of the proposed artefact by the case of a tool selection at a major telecommunications company and a survey-based analysis of 19 BPM tool vendors in the European market.
Software Project Management Tools: Making a Practical Decision Using AHP

The selection of an appropriate software project management tool, as in the selection of many other tools, is often approached using an ad hoc process. Such non-rigorous approaches often based on personal preference, intuition, or marketing hype, can lead to an erroneous result. In this paper a rigorous model for selecting a software project management tool using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is presented. The AHP provides a flexible, systematic, and repeatable evaluation procedure that can easily be understood by the decision maker in selecting the appropriate software project management tool. Several relevant factors based on the most common features offered by commercial off-the-shelf solutions (COTS) are used as the selection criteria in ranking the software project management tools. The contribution of this work is to apply a well-known decision making procedure in a novel way to help decision makers better identify an appropriate software project management tool without having to go through a more extensive evaluation process. In addition, this work establishes a framework for comparing individual product decisions across projects, project managers, organizational groups, and organizations.
Multi-Criteria Decision Making for Optimal Configuration of Business Process Model Families

Business process model families (BPMF) provide collective representation of business processes that can be defined for a target domain of interest. They enable rapid development of appropriate business processes by setting up quick BPMF configuration based on the stakeholders' needs and preferences. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for user-centric quality-driven configuration of business process model families capturing different kinds of non-functional preferences and solving the optimal BPMFs configuration problem. Focusing on the following key elements: Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and its extension known as CS-AHP, Fuzzy logic and Genetic Algorithms, the framework maximizes the degree of satisfaction of defined non-functional preferences while simultaneously preserving the behavioural correctness of each derived business process. Furthermore, we provide extensive analyses of the proposed framework from three different perspectives: accuracy assessment, analysis of the impact of different variability and uncertainty elements, and comparison with the published literature indicating that the proposed approach outperforms similar ones in the field.
