This research is about teaching vocabulary by using crossword puzzle at the first semester of the seventh grade students of MTs Ma’arif Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) 08 Mataram Baru in East Lampung in the academic year of 2016/2017. The objective of this research are to describe process of teaching vocabulary by using crossword puzzle, to describe the teacher’s problems and students’ problem in teaching and learning proces. This study aims to determine the increase in students' mastery of English vocabulary using crosswords and to find out what are the effects of using crosswords in the learning process. This research uses classroom action research methods. Researchers conducted research in one of the junior high schools in Cimahi and the subjects in this study consisted of 34 students. For data collection researchers used observation, interviews and tests, to find out whether there was progress from students in improving their mastery of English vocabulary. This research describes the use of Crossword Puzzle to improve students’ vocabulary mastery. Moreover, it was to find out whether Crossword Puzzle is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery at the second grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung. This research used experimental design in which the samples of the research were assessed both before and after an experimental treatment. The Use of Crossword Puzzle towards the Students Vocabulary

Vocabulary is an important one of the language components that should be learnt by students, so they can master the English well. This research is conducted to know the student vocabulary improving after taught using crossword puzzles. The research used pre-experimental design which is need an experimental class. The sample of this research is the first grade of SMAN 5 Makassar which consist of 20 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used vocabulary test that has administered in pretest and posttest. The result showed that the mean score in posttest was 76.75 that is higher than the mean score in pre-test was 55.5. The score of t-test was 0.02 was smaller than α (0.05). It can be said that using puzzles can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery.

The aim of the researcher was to find a technique that could increase the students’s vocabulary. To find out whether interactive method by applying crossword puzzle can improve students’ vocabulary. The researchers gives the students pretest and post test. The researcher use two cycles in this research.We can see that in the first cycle the number of students who got a score of 75 was 6.6% andin the second cycle the number of students who got a score of 75 was 76.6%. The researchers’ aim for this research was to determine the significance of using crossword puzzles in developing students' vocabulary at Pangeran Antasari Medan's seventh grade. The quantitative design was used in this study. This study's population consisted of 50 students. Furthermore, the researchers used 50 students as a sample and divided them into two different groups, experimental and control groups. The study's instrument was a fill-in-the-blanks (Pre-test and Post-test) or crossword puzzle. Based on the clarification over, the author analyzed the score utilizing the T-test equation, and the result was T-observed was 2.92 and t-table was 1,684, indicating that T-observed was more prominent than T-table. At the critical level, p= 0.05 and df= nx=ny-2 = 48. This implies that Crossword Puzzle Strategy features a noteworthy affect on students' learning.
Empowering Seventh-Grade Students with Crossword Puzzle for Vocabulary Mastery

Students often struggle with mastering vocabulary in their English learning journey, necessitating English teachers to seek solutions. One viable strategy teachers can adopt is the integration of crossword puzzles to enhance students' vocabulary mastery. Specifically, the study sought to determine if providing crossword puzzles to the SMP Negeri 3 Banawa seventh-grade students could enhance their vocabulary proficiency. To measure the impact of this approach, the researcher employed pre-test and post-test assessments as evaluation tools in a quasi-experimental study. Through purposive sampling, the researcher selected two classes, VII B and VII D, each with 29 students, as the study's sample groups. Subsequently, data analysis revealed a significant disparity between the pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental class. Notably, the computed pvalued (two-tailed) was 0.000, falling below the predetermined significance level of 0.05, signifying the acceptance of the hypothesis. In conclusion, implementing the crossword puzzle in this study led to a noticeable improvement in the vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Banawa.

This research design Crossword Puzzle in the Third Semester of English Education Department at UIN Alauddin Makassar. The objective of this research was to design crossword puzzle to improve students' vocabulary mastery. It was conducted in the third semester students in the English Education Department of UIN Alauddin. The significance of this research were for students, teachers, and other research. For students with their research will facilitate the student in improving their vocabulary. In addition, this study was designed to produce teaching materials, especially in vocabulary lesson used crossword puzzle. For teachers, this research can be useful to produce media that can facilitate teachers in presenting the lesson. For other researchers, the results of this study can be used as a comparison, especially in terms of the development of teaching materials in vocabulary. The research design of this research was Research & Development (R&D). It applied model R&D adapted from Borg & Gall model. The steps of the model were needed assessment, designing the product, validating product, revising initial product, trying out product, final revising product, and the last final product. The types of data of this research were quantitative and qualitative data. The research instruments were questionnaire and research judgments.
The Improving of the Student’s Vocabulary Achievement through Crossword Game in the New Normal Era

This research attempted to verify improved vocabulary achievement using the Crossword Game for the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Krian. The method used was classroom action research. The reason why this research was done is because of the pre–cycle outcome. Only five students passed the criteria of minimum score (KKM). So, the researcher wanted to give fun vocabulary learning through Crossword Games. This research was done in 3 cycles. And the subject was one class of eleventh-grade students, which was a class that consisted of 28 students. The instruments were observation, tests, and questionnaires. According to the data analysis, the second cycle's scores are higher than the first. From 17% in pre–test to 75% in post–test 1, it meant that there was an improvement about 58%.
