Today, most parking lots operate on a manual parking system, where vehicles enter, find an available space, pay for parking at the counter, etc. In contrast, parking booking apps allow users to save time and money. People use these sites to provide parking for Light Motor Vehicles (LMV). Users and owners of parking spaces will be located directly using the Global Positioning System (GPS) API. In addition, the software will assign a unique identification number (UID) to the parking space and display a live list of available parking spaces. This paper will discuss building an application that covers all the features and aspects of vehicle parking and the basics used to build it.
The Development of Smart Parking System
The increasing of the number of vehicle ownership, parking has become the serious problem for several people. One of the problems is difficulty to looking for the empty parking space in the large parking area and also the amount of illegal parking car that does not follow the rules of the parking space dimension. In this paper, we proposed the smart parking system using the Internet of Things (IoT) that can be part of a solution for the parking problem. This system help in organizing the parking lot and helps the driver to reach their parking spots easily as they known which space is vacant. The parking space can be detected using an Infrared sensor that connects to the ESP8266 module that was programmed through Arduino IDE. Users can access parking space information using a smartphone via an application. Especially for users who have been registered before, they have a code for login the app as the requirement for security system and user parking convenience. The system can work with the purpose of the research appropriately.

Number of vehicles continues to increase in the urban place parallel with the infrastructure advancement. As the number of vehicles on roads continues to rise, businesses are more likely to encounter a range of issues. To address such challenges, the "Smart Parking System" has been developed as an intelligent and automatic solution for parking vehicles. This system is designed to alleviate problems faced by urban areas on their roads. However, precisely tracking the availability of parking spots across different locations and times remains a significant difficulty. Nonetheless, the Smart Parking System enables parking attendants to easily locate empty parking spaces. Moreover, implementing this smart parking system can help minimize energy consumption and pollution levels in cities, ultimately contributing toward the country's economic growth.

The main goals of the demonstrator developed within the FRDISI (Foundation for Research, Development and Innovation in Engineering Sciences) in Casablanca (Morocco) are to allow the development of new concepts and tools in smartparking management. It will also permit to experiment other smart sensors and parking management analysis algorithms. The demonstrator will offer a platform to develop and experiment innovative solutions for an efficient management of the energy consumption of all the infrastructure and physical equipment of the smart-parking. Through our demonstrator, FRDISI will be able to help drivers, through a web or android application, to reduce parking search time, to make place reservation. This application proposes a lot of innovative functionality among them a reservation system. It will help the parking owners to increase the rotations of their parking spaces (near malls, near airports) which can positively impact the economic profitability of the parking infrastructure. In addition, the demonstrator produces green energy and is energy autonomous. For cities responsible, it proposes steps for the support tools' development in smart-parking and analyze the uses for a better definition of the mobility policy of the city. FRDISI will launch many subjects in applied research domain to improve and develop the know-how in the field, to develop and experiment innovative futurist solutions such as optimization algorithm in the parking rules according to demand (handicap, drop-off, public transport, funds conveyors, neighborhood markets, schools, events, etc.), implementing new sensor technologies and new modes of energy-efficient communication while taking advantage of existing telecommunication infrastructures (Internet of Things IoT Concept). As our platform will encourage the green mobility solutions by providing smart load for electric vehicles.
Design and Implementation of an Android Smart Parking Mobile Application

Smart parking is an important sector of smart city technologies. This paper presents the design and implementation of a smart parking application in a university campus to help university personnel prebook a parking space swiftly and easily. Each parking slot is numbered with a distinctive number and has an infrared sensor. The sensors are connected to an Arduino device to indicate whether the position is vacant or busy. The application uses several programming techniques in Android Studio and SQL Database. The efficient management of the available parking spaces is demonstrated and can be extended to cover other areas and venues.

The growth of Internet of Things have given rise to new possibilities in terms of smart cities. Smart parking facilities and traffic management systems have always been at the core of constructing smart cities. In this paper the system involves using low-cost sensors, RFID tags, real-time data collection and mobile-phone-enabled automated payment systems that allow people to reserve parking very accurately and predict where they will likely find a spot, so this results in reduction in waiting time for parking, along with reduction in car emission and pollution, improved city visitor experience and need for manpower is reduced.

Observing the current scenario, categorizing the issues faced by drivers in large cities around the world, we come across two major issues-parking space shortages and traffic congestion. With increase in population, the demands for vehiclesare increasing day-byday. Due to the same, unavailability or mismanagement of available parking spaces, heavy traffic in crowded cities is obvious. Looking upon the ways to solve these issues, we may look to increase the parking spaces or efficiently utilize and manage the available parking space. And for obvious reasons the latter is efficient. For proper utilization of resources available, we need to develop an intelligent and efficient way so that there is no wastage of time, cost and fuel. Specifically about parking, need of safe and smart parking system is vital.

Due to rapid increase in vehicle density especially during the peak hours of the day it is difficult task for the users to find the parking space to park their vehicles. This study proposes a smart parking system based on Arduino components and mobile application. The proposed smart parking system consists of an onsite deployment of an slot module that is used to monitor and signalize the state of availability of each single parking space. A mobile application is also provided that allows an end user to check the availability of parking space and book a parking slot accordingly. Smart parking can increase the economy by reducing fuel consumption and pollution in urban cities.
Smart Parking as One of the Smart Cities Mechanisms

The study aims at determining the importance of smart parking as one of the basic applications of smart cities; to solve the urgent problems of central business district in the capital cities in the Middle East, which suffer from many problems in traffic and thus negatively effects on quality of life. The study deals with central business district in the city of Cairo, which suffers from serious traffic problems, as a result of the steady increase in demand for parking, especially with the rapid population growth and the absence of places for future expansions. The importance of the study is to develop planning solutions to solve the issue of the paucity of parking area and the problems resulting from them, through intelligent techniques that ensure minimizing the problem and achieve sustainable development. The methodology of the study was based on an analysis of the problem of lack of parking spaces in central business district in Cairo city, its causes, negative results on traffic and quality of life, and analysis of previous studies that dealt with this problem through traditional methods. and the determinants facing the decision maker planning, and ends the study to develop a comprehensive plan for the smart parking of the Central Business District in the city of Cairo as an example.
