International Journal of Scientific and Research Publications (IJSRP)

Social studies education aims to understand and develop knowledge, cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspect and to prepare the student as good citizens. But in fact, social studies education is still conventional and centered on teacher. The purpose of the research is to find the impact of using digital literacy for inquiry based learning on student critical thinking skill. This research sample was quasi experimental. the research design was a pretest-posttest control group design and the sample was the VB and VC classes that have been selected through random sampling techniques. The result of analysis claims that critical thinking skill was obtained t hitung = 13,539 with significance of 0,05 and df 38. Thefore, digital literacy for inquiry based learning has significant toward improving critical thinking skill.

The first cycle obtained an average of 77.87%, while in the second cycle there was an increase of 82,49%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the students' critical thinking skill...

The effect of the inquiry-based learning approach on student’s critical-thinking skills

EURASIA Journal of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education, 2016

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of an activity set developed according to the inquiry-based learning (IBL) approach in the unit "Particulate Structure of Matter" on students' critical-thinking skills in science and technology courses. The study was conducted with 90 students from the 6 th grade attending four, 6 th grade secondary school classes. Within the framework of the study, in order to evaluate the effects of IBL approach on the students' critical-thinking skills in science and technology courses, the guided activity set was developed by the researchers in line with the IBL approach. In this study, pretest and posttest control group experimental designs were applied. The findings of the study revealed that science and technology learning supported with the guided activities developed in line with the IBL approach have significant effects on students' critical-thinking skills in science and technology courses.

The Influence of Inquiry Learning Model in Improving Students' Critical Thinking Skills in View of Learning Styles in Science Learning in Elementary Schools

EduBasic Journal: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar

One of the skills that students need to possess in the 21st century is the ability to think critically. Students' critical thinking skills can be developed in natural science learning. Nonetheless, not all learning models can help students improve their critical thinking skills. Undoubtedly, a suitable learning model must be chosen; the most crucial step is understanding the student's preferred learning method. This study, therefore, aims to determine the influence of the inquiry learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills in terms of various student learning styles. This study used a quantitative research approach. The method used was an experimental research method with a 2x2 factorial ANOVA experimental research type. This research was conducted in class V at eight elementary schools in Majalengka Regency, with a total sample of 262 students. The data collection instrument employed was an essay test. The data analysis techniques utilized were the no...

The Impact of Inquiry-Based Learning on Students’ Critical Thinking Skills

Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Islam, Science and Technology (ICONIST 2019), 2020

Critical thinking skills are fundamental skills possessed by students to adapt to the external challenges of 21st-century. Then research on the effect of the implementation of inquiry learning models on students' critical thinking skills. This study was categorized as a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this research is 224 students are divided into seven different classes. The sample selected by using cluster random sampling technique and selected 2 classes. The instrument of critical thinking consists of 6 essay questions given by an individual on material temperature and heat. Critical thinking test first through the validity test by experts. Critical thinking skills tests are given at the beginning and end of learning. Hypothesis testing is done by independent t-test. Before testing the hypothesis, the normality and homogeneity of the data are tested as a prerequisite for the parametric statistical test. This indicates that there is a difference in the critical thinking skills of students who take the inquiry learning model from students who learn to use the non-inquiry learning model. The inquiry learning model applied in the experimental class aims to train students in finding a concept related to temperature and heat.

The Effectiveness of Inquiry-Based Module to Empower the Studentsr Critical Thinking Skills

2018

Critical thinking is one of the 4C skills of the 21 century have to be mastered by students to analyze the phenomena of science and think for the well-being in the world. Some factors are argued as the key points to nurture the skill, such as the learning strategies, and the content of learning which should contextually and inquiry-based presented. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the module which was designed based on the inquiry-lesson to improve the students' critical thinking skills. Subjects were selected from the biggest Madrasah Aliyah (Islamic High School) and credited as ―A‖ in Magetan District, East Java Province, Indonesia. This study was conducted in the academic year of 2016–2017. All eleventh-grade classes from the selected school were randomly selected to find out the two homogeneous classes for control and experiment class. A test for critical thinking was constructed based on the indicators by Facione. The independent t-test experi...

The Application of Inquiry Learning to Train Critical Thinking Skills on Light Material of Primary School Students

Journal of Physics: Conference Series, 2018

Critical thinking skills are seen as important skills for survival and have become one of Indonesia's educational goals. The results of initial observation of critical thinking skills in Kemangsen 2 primary school involving students of grade V, revealed that 95% students possessed score 2 (with the scale, ranging from 1 to 4). Therefore, critical thinking skills of students need to be improved by applying hands-based learning of Hands on Science; one of which is through inquiry learning. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of inquiry learning model in trained critical thinking skills of elementary students (n = 22). This research was conducted by One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data were analyzed using t-dependent tests for overall critical thinking skills and descriptive analysis for critical thinking skills for each indicator. The critical thinking skills trained in this study include evaluation, explanation, interpretation, and inference based on the results of data analysis. To sum up, inquiry learning is classified as effective in terms of training students' critical thinking skills. The critical thinking skills of students should be continuously trained on appropriate materials or topics.

The Influence Of Incipient Ability, Indpendent Learning To Critical Thinking Ability Through Teaching Material Inquiry-Based

Advances in Social Sciences Research Journal

To foster mathematical teaching material inquiry based aided by multimedia that caused to upgrade critical thinking of High School Students (HSS) across North Sumatera as the focused purpose of this study. Implemented in North Sumatera from the year of 2016 to 2018. The population covered overall high school students. The subjects were the high school students themselves. Technically picking sample on by exercising purposive random sampling that is pick on six HSS randomly with three HSS from public school and three HSS from private school. To perceive the influence of teaching material of mathematics inquiry-based aided by multimedia which is developed used designed research of quasi experiment with design control group post test only. Technically to turn in data used questionnaires, observation, and test. The data being analyzed with working out with technical descriptive analysis, examined t and anova. The experiment of study found inquiry learning model in groups caused students are encouraged to express their thoughts and keeping others thoughts. Inquiry learning model aided by multimedia interacts with students' incipient mathematical ability to critical thinking ability. Students' incipient mathematical ability in low and high category rather used inquiry learning aided by multimedia, meanwhile for students' incipient ability of low rather used ordinary learning model or expository. Students critical thinking are more in medium category that is of 38.71%, this case means that to upgrade critical thinking ability in this study its necessary to focus on one of the third limitedness in allowing more opportunities to students to think creatively.
