An organization is as good as its people. Successful ones align its employee competency development to the attainment of organizational goals. De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) embarked on a competency mapping initiative where all human resource development programs will be anchored on. The major purpose of this study was to validate the leadership domains and behavioral statements that have been culled from document review and identified as essential for exemplary performance. The DLSZ top and middle-level administrators (N=78) from different departments and offices were the research participants. Descriptive research design using the mixed method approach was utilized in this study. Quantitative data were extracted from survey questionnaire while qualitative data were gathered from the focus group discussion. Evaluation of the different characteristics of a school leader in the Philippines is a bit limited in educational literature. Hence, this study focus on assessing the personal attributes, traits, and competencies of school leaders in the Hindang District, Leyte Division, Philippines to elucidate its nature and promote new policy in improving the educational system. This study employed a cross-sectional data gathering from a complete enumeration of teachers in the district. Mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation were computed in describing the survey data, and Spearman rho correlation was utilized in determining the association between variables. Results showed that school leaders are rated as "very satisfactory" concerning their "personal attributes", "traits", "result-focus", "self-orientation", "innovation", "leading people", "people performance and management", and "people development" characteristics. School leaders are also rated as "outstanding" in terms of their competencies such as "self-management", "professionalism and ethics", and "teamwork." The correlation matrix revealed that all the characteristics of a school leader are positively correlated (strong) to each other at a 1% level of significance. Hence, it is concluded that each character is a very important asset for a school leader in developing the school. This implies that to attain continuous progress in a school, the qualification in hiring a school leader must focus on personal attributes, traits, and competencies, not on the curriculum knowledge. Furthermore, a school leader must undergo seminars and training that deal with lead management and innovative ideas to become globally competitive leaders.
SCHOOL HEADS' COMPETENCIES AND SCHOOL PERFORMANCE

This study had been conducted to determine the school heads' competencies and school performance. It explored qualitatively, the school-based management challenges and coping strategies of the school heads. Specifically, it discoveredthe level of school heads' work competencies in terms of school leadership, instructional leadership, creating student-centered learning climate, human resource management and professional development, parent involvement and community partnership, school management and operations, personal and professional attributes and interpersonal effectiveness as well as the level of school performance in terms of leadership and governance, curriculum and learning, resource management and accountability and continuous improvement. The significant influence of school heads' competencies on school performance. The lived experiences of School heads in the implementation of school-based management. Complete enumeration of the school heads was used in the study and proportional allocation of samples of the teacher-respondents with a total of two hundred fiftythree (253) school heads and teachers-respondents of the study. Moreover, convergent design was utilized that covers both quantitative and qualitative research commonly called as mixed method. This involves integrating and combining qualitative and quantitative research process that was done by collecting both responses based on the research questions. In addition, school heads' competencies the findings revealed that all school heads' competencies have manifested very high competence. Whereas, on the level of school performance in terms of leadership and governance, curriculum and learning resource management and accountability and continuous improvement manifested good. Furthermore, school heads' competencies and school performance revealed as highly positive significant influence and relationship on leadership and governance, curriculum and learning, resource management, and accountability and continuous improvement.

School leaders play a significant role in managing and leading the school, not only to excel in its entire academic program but equally important is its growth and sustainability. This research is intended to provide a source of realistic and useful ideas to owners and stakeholders about the importance of determining core competencies of school leaders to meet the qualifying standards in appointing or employing school officials in order to help and guide them in choosing the right and competent members of school leaders that suit well in managing Philippine Schools Overseas. The study is quantitative descriptive using survey design and the result of the study uncovered the essential core competencies of school top executives, namely: leading people and business coalition as core qualifications; and conciseness and composure as emulating attributes that determined the necessary core competencies for school managers. Successful school leaders that possess all the relevant core competencies identified in this study are able to drive transformation and school improvement. They effectively influence a variety of school outcomes, and this entails cultivating leadership in others so they can assume their parts in realizing the school vision and help organizations to articulate strategy and link behaviors to PSO's vision and mission.
Competency of school heads in leading people influences school performance

Investigating school performance and competencies, especially on leadership, received a considerable attention in the past. In fact, there have been multitudes of evidence that leadership can impact school performance, student achievement, or outcome. Also, there was no single measurement of school performance. This study examined the influence of leadership and core behavioral competencies on the school performance of school heads. This was to build a new model of school performance. Using an explanatory research design, it administered a survey questionnaire to 192 randomly chosen school heads from the 37 districts of Department of Education Division of Surigao del Sur. Also, it used data mining for the performance ratings of school heads from the division office. Regression analysis tested three hypothesized models of school performance where leadership and core behavior competencies serve as independent variables. Results showed that leading people was a significant predictor of school performance. Thus, leading people can best explain the school improvement as a proposed model. The results have implications for future research, leadership practice, and theoretical development of school performance model among school heads.
Leadership Competency of an Island School Principals in Sabah

The capability in managing school effectively and efficiently among school principals is always concern in education management. This study aims to identify the leadership competency and implementation practices of a principal of a school in a Sabah island. This qualitative study uses the case study approach. The respondents for this research are principals, administrative senior assistant and teachers. Data collection processes consist of interview, observation and document analysis. The data is processed and analysed using ATLAS.ti 8 software. The findings show that the principal of this island school need to possess leadership competencies in terms of knowledge, skills and behaviour in performing his duty efficiently and effectively, whether focusing on leading the school, teacher teaching, or operational aspects. In short, the leadership competencies of the school principal are very important in ensuring that the management and leadership of the school is always well-planned and systematic, and able to keep up with the current changes in the context of global education.
Standards of Competency of Head of School Beginners as Leaders in Learning Innovation

This study aims to describe the personal, social, and professional competencies that a novice must possess in order to effectively begin his performance as an innovative learning leader. This research was conducted with a quantitative. The targets of this study were 10 principals in metropolitan cities, central cities and suburbs for elementary schools in East Java. The data of this study were collected by a closed questionnaire and in-depth interviews. Quantitative data collected was analysed by quantitative data analysis techniques using descriptive statistics of middle size trends. Based on data analysis, the results of the study can be concluded as follows, novice principals need competencies related to openness, responsibility, honesty, talent and work interest, integrity, and self-confidence. Social competencies needed by beginner school principals are competencies related to social sensitivity, providing assistance to others, communicating, cooperating, and participating in social activities. Beginner school principals most need competence regarding vision of learning, then proceed with a culture of learning, learning environment, and school community relations.
School Heads’ Competencies And Teachers’ Performance

This research investigated the correlation between school heads' competencies and teachers' performance. The study used the descriptive correlational method. An adapted questionnaire was used to gather data. The teacher IPCRF rating for the School Year 2021-2022 was used to determine the teachers' performance. A total of one hundred(100) elementary teachers from the sixteen (16) schools in the 1st Legislative District of Cagayan de Oro City took part in the study. Mean, standard deviation, and Pearson r correlation, were used to treat the data. The school heads' competencies have an overall description Agree. The teachers' performance based on the IPCRF rating indicates that they are is outstanding. Building connections has a significant relationship to teachers' performance while leading strategically, managing school operations and resources, focusing on teaching and learning, and developing self and others have no significance. School heads' may further improve their communication skills and strategize on how to create more connections and attract stakeholders who will be a great help not only for school improvement but also for learners, teachers, and the community.
