The Impact of Outsourcing on Labour Managemnt Relations

The present study focused on the impact of outsourcing on labour-management relations in the banking sector, with reference to Diamond bank plc, Onitsha. The study was designed to explore the human relations aspect of outsourcing, as a result of which the Social Exchange theory was applied as the theoretical framework for this study. The research seeks to ascertain if outsourcing has any impact on labour and management relations, investigate whether outsourcing leads to conflict in the bank as well as discuss the effect of outsourcing on workers performance and organizational growth. This research made use of Chi-square Goodness-of-Fit statistical tool to test the hypotheses generated from this research in order to access the impact of outsourcing on labour-management relations, work performance and industrial conflict in the bank. A sample size of ninety-six was chosen for this study through the use Taro Yarmane’s formula, out of which, seventy-seven participants including managers, direct employees and outsourced staff responded to the questionnaires distributed for the purpose of this study. The research findings points to three main conclusions. First, outsourcing does not have any impact on labour-management relations. Secondly, outsourcing does not have a significant effect of workers’ performance and organizational growth. Lastly, outsourcing does not contribute to industrial conflict within diamond bank.

Indian BPOs have been in news for certain contradictory issues. While this industry is able to create more employment on the other hand is facing the problem of attrition. Although these issues have been addressed from different perspective, more and more researches are required to understand the employment trends and employee expectation and satisfaction, may be in the local level. An online survey was conducted at Mumbai to address compensation issue in different BPOs. 106 respondents selected on the basis of snowball sampling fully completed the survey. With the help of descriptive statistics and correlation tests findings were generated. Overall it was found out that BPOs are no more considered as stepping stones to other jobs rather are thought of as long term career prospects. And the compensation satisfaction was highly correlated to job satisfaction among the respondents. The research is highly significant in determining the future path for the outsourcing firms for maintaining a harmonious between the expectation and satisfaction balance amongst its employees.

This study investigates the effect of outsourcing practice on employment relations in Multinational Corporations with special focus on Shell Petroleum Producing and Development Company (SPDC). The study also examined the importance of employment relations in organizational performance. Descriptive research methodology was adopted in this study. The questionnaire that was administered in the field survey was the abbreviated version of Hewitt’s Human Resource Outsourcing Survey Questionnaire. Most developed countries have witnessed a sharp increase in outsourcing operations. These operations range from the service sector to manufacturing of various components such as automotive components. However, many organisations practicing outsourcing are failing to achieve their objectives for a number of reasons. This paper seeks to explore the benefits gained from the outsourcing strategy implemented by industrial companies in Jordan in terms of cost reduction, focus on core competencies, access to specialized resources, quality improvement, and the perceived benefits. This was achieved by testing hypotheses based on the main objectives of the study. The population of the study consisted of all of the manufacturing companies located at the Sahab industrial estate, Jordan, while the respondents are made up of those who occupy managerial positions in the aforementioned companies. A survey questionnaire was developed, relying mainly on the study of Gewald et al. (2004), with contributions from the studies of Anderson (1997) and Kotabe et al. (2008). The researchers distributed 130 questionnaires but only 122 were retrieved, out of which 114 were considered valid for statistical treatment.

This work concerns the study of the decision-making process of outsourcing in Moroccan offices. He is interested in raising and analyzing all the factors that influence the decision to outsource in the public context.
