Research Productivity of Journal of Librarianship and Information Science from 1999-2019: A Bibliometric Study

Journal of Librarianship and Information Science (JoLIS) is a peer-reviewed journal that deals with the fields of Library and Information Science and serving since 1969. The journal publishes various forms of data including articles, book reviews, letters, reviews and editorial material, etc. The study aims at highlighting the research productivity of JoLIS. Bibliometric data of JoLIS have been collected through Core Collection and Web of Science. VOSviewer, Biblishiny, and MS Excel spreadsheet were used to analyze the data. This bibliometric study explores the exact figures of publications, types of documents, year-wise distribution of published documents, frequency distribution of specific productivity, top 10 highly cited articles, bibliographic coupling of organizations, document productions from different countries, and the most used author’s keywords. This study presents a comprehensive overview of the content of JoLIS, and a systematic analysis of its research productivity from 1999 to 2019. Moreover, this study provides a methodological framework for the research productivity of this journal in future.

Bibliometric Analysis of International Journal of Research in Library Science 2015–2022 indexed by Google scholar

A bibliometric analysis of the research productivity of International Journal of Research in Library Science (IJRLS)" is presented in this paper. Through bibliometric analysis of articles published in the International Journal of Research in Library Science between 2015 to 2022, 334 articles were identified from the Google Scholar database. The paper was observed for 270 out of 334 records, and duplicate files removed from the study were found in the database. The analysis focuses on the geographic distribution of authors as well as the issue-by-issue and authorship pattern distribution of publications. The investigation looked at 270 papers that were published in the International Journal of Research in Library Science over the course of a few years. The maximum was 80(29.62%) articles published in 2021 and the minimum of 4(1.48%) articles published in 2019. The highest contribution by two authors was 115, while only 96 were contributed by single authors. Most of the contributions were from India, according to the study. The top contributors in geographical distribution are Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The most cited work was Mobile library services and technologies.

The branch of library science concerned with the application of mathematical and statistical analysis to bibliography; the statistical analysis of books, articles, or other publications is known bibliometrics. The prime objective of this study is to examine the research productivity of an international journal of library & information science (IJLIS) and published online. This study discloses/examines the papers published during the period of 2009 to 2014. Country's wise contributions, author's collaborations, lengths of papers and individual author's contribution during the period have been analyzed and included in this current paper.

Research Productivity of DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology: A Bibliometric Review

The study examines the research productivity of the DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) for a selected period of 2012-2020. In 2012, the Scopus database started indexing DJLIT publications, and it was the motivation behind choosing this specific period for the present study. The sourced data for the present study was extracted from the Scopus database covering the period 2012-2020. The various bibliometric parameters have been applied, such as year-wise distribution of publications with citations, RCI, ACPP, CAI, Citation analysis, the collaboration of authors, institutions and countries to measure the research productivity. The study's findings revealed that the number of publications over the years fluctuates up and down but expanded when the journal was indexed in Scopus. Further, joint authors' contribution found high at the rate of 358(67.42%), followed by single authorship 173(32.58%). The author, B. M. Gupta, was the most productive and cited author during the study period. The University of Delhi contributed 42 publications and identified as first among the top ten highly effective institutions. The study concludes that the DJLIT publishes good quality research articles covering the different aspects of library and information science disciplines. It comes under Q2 scoring category of journal citation ranking.

International Research - Journal of Library and Information Science: A Bibliometric Analysis

Paper studies bibliometric analysis of Indian open access LIS journal for five years from 2011 to 2015. Total 218 published articles were examined and analyzed for distribution of articles, authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, and geographical distribution of articles has been done. Inferences has been drawn from the analysis that journal prevalent two authorship patterns with 0.66 degree of collaboration, India as top most contributor of the articles for the journal and amongst foreign countries Nigeria is the highest contributor. Tamil Nadu is the highest contributor amongst Indian states and union territories. Journal Articles were found most prevalent source of information for writing research papers and used as citation. Calculated half-life of the journal citations found to be 9.54 years.

A scientometric analysis of international LIS journals: Productivity and characteristics

This paper presents a quantitative study of productivity, characteristics and various aspects of global publication in the field of library and information science (LIS). A total of 894 contributions published in 56 LIS journals indexed in SSCI during the years of 2000-2004 were analyzed. A total of 1361 authors had contributed publications during the five years. The overwhelming majority (89.93%) of them wrote one paper. The average number of authors per paper is 1.52. All the studied papers were published in English. The sum of research output of the authors form USA and UK reaches 70% of the total productivity. Most papers received few citations. Each article received on an average 1.6 citations and the LIS researchers cite mostly latest articles. About 48% of citing authors had tendency of self-citation. The productive authors, their contribution and authorship position are listed to indicate their productivity and degree of involvement in their research publications.

Mapping the Research Trends and Publication Output of Journal of Annals of Library and Information Studies during 2016-2020: A Bibliometric Analysis

The main aim of this paperis toanalyse the mapping of publication output and research trends of Journal titled "Annals of Library and Information Studies" during the period of 5 years; i.e., 2016-2020. The present paper conducted the bibliometric analysis of 139 papers published in the journal during 2016-2020 to study the various aspects of journal such as publication output, authorship pattern of articles, geographical distribution of articles, institute wise distribution of articles, reference pattern of articles, length of articles,etc. The study found thatyear 2016 and year 2017 has maximum number of papers published in the journal. The nature of contribution is collaborative in nature where 2 authored contribution (55.39%) is maximum. A total of 4279 references are cited in 139 papers of the journal. Most number of papers (103) are contributed by authors from India andhighest number of papers (64.74%) are contributed by authors from Universities.

Analysis of published research in IP Indian Journal of Library Science and Information Technology: A Bibliometric Study during 2016-2020

Bibliometrics is the discipline where quantitative methods were employed to probe the scientific communication process by measuring and analyzing various aspects of written documents. It helps to monitor the growth of literature and patterns of research. The present paper is based on the analysis of IP Indian Journal of Library Science and Information Technology (IJLSIT) with the help of bibliometrics parameters during the period 2016 to 2020. Among the several bibliometric parameters, the study utilizes mainly the number of articles per volume or year, authorship pattern, collaborative pattern, topmost authors, state-, designation-& affiliation-wise contribution, reference per article count, cited resources type, research trends and research interests. The research data of this study collected manually, analysed with the help of an MS Excel spreadsheet and distinguished according to different types of bibliometric elements. The findings of the study suggested that in IJLSIT, the maximum number of articles published in the year 2019 (25.74%), 53.47% (54) articles contributed by a single author, and the overall collaboration rate is 0.47. Furthermore, 90% (91) of articles contributed by Indian authors and Hemantha Kumar G.H. is the most productive author. Maharastra (18.81%) being the most contributed Indian state, Benue State University & Rayalaseema University (4.95%) being the most contributed institutions and College Librarians are the most designated contributors (20.79%). The study further revealed that 0-5 pages are the most common length, 6-10 references are the most common references used per article, and periodicals are the most commonly cited reference types. The area "Digital Library" is nurtured most among researchers, whereas, the year 2018, vol. 3, issue 1 consists of the maximum views number (18.01%) and the year 2020, vol. 5, issue 1 has the most number of downloads (22.92%).

Information and Management Journal : A Scientometric Assessment of Global Publications output during 1989-2018

The Present Study analyzed research Productiveness in Information and Management, the international journal of information systems theories and applications for a period of 30 years between 1989 and 2018. Web of Science database a service from Clarivate Analytics has been used to download citation and source data. Bibexcel and Histcite application software have been used to present the datasets. Analysis part focuses on the parameters like citation impact at local and global level, outstanding authors and their total output, ranking of contributing institutions and countries. In addition to this scientographical mapping of data is presented through graphs using VOSviewer software mapping technique.

A scientometric profile of research productivity on library herald: A single journal study

This paper aims to know the impact of research trends on the Library Herald for nine years form 2006 to 2014. This paper has analyzed various factors such as authorship pattern, productivity, and collaboration among multiauthors, year-wise distribution of papers, institution and subject wise distribution and many more features. The result shows that the highest number i.e. 137 (54.37%) contributors have published a single author whereas the rest of lowest number i.e. 115 (45.63%) of papers were published by co-authors. The maximum number of 89.68% documents was published from Indian authors and the minimum numbers of 10.32% papers were published by foreign authors. The maximum numbers of (407) citations were in 2007 and the average citation per article was 12.33. The least number of citations was 156 and the average citations per article were 8.67.
