The behavior of different add-on parts to a basic car model has been studied experimentally .Experiments were conducted with different add-on parts, like rear end spoiler & front end spoiler in order to find out how these add-on parts influence the drag and lift coefficients of a basic car model. The experiment was done in Jadavpur University low turbulence subsonic closed circuit wind tunnel at different Reynolds number .The results from the experiment indicated that the addition of different add-on parts like front end spoiler and rear end spoiler to a basic car model reduces the lift coefficient to a considerable amount while the drag coefficient is reduced by a small amount. It was concluded that the addition of these add-on parts like rear-end spoiler etc increases the aerodynamic stability of a basic car model and hence they can be used in real life which will be an added advantage.

In the present work abundantly and cheaply available renewable agricultural cellulosic wastes groundnut hulls, rice husks and waste news papers were selected for production of bioethanol fuel. Two locally isolated microorganisms cellulase producing fungus Aspergillus niger and ethanol producing Saccharomyces cerevisiae were employed for saccharification and fermentation respectively. Two methods of saccharification and fermentation i.e. stationary and shaking were adopted. High yield of ethanol was obtained from groundnut hulls in stationary fermentation.

In this paper investigation on thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) derived from waste polypropylene (WPP) of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) are reported. The WPP was segregated, cleaned, dried and melt processed with NBR at 180 °C in a Brabender Plasticorder at different blend ratios. TPV was prepared by dynamic vulcanization of the TPE with conventional sulfur accelerator curing system. The mechanical properties measured were found to decrease with increase in NBR proportion in the blend; however the dynamic vulcanization of the nitrile rubber phase enhanced the strength properties of the corresponding TPE. The crystallinity of the WPP reduced with increase in NBR ratio. The dynamic modulus decreased with nitrile rubber content in the TPE. Interestingly, the storage modulus of the TPV at higher rubber content enhanced significantly and damping characteristics increased sharply. The rheology studies reveal that the damping of the blend has been reduced with the addition of high storage modulus rubber at melt processing conditions and hence increased viscosity. The amorphous rubber content with higher storage modulus imparts higher viscosity for the polypropylene (PP) matrix at the processing temperature. The SEM study reveals that the dynamic vulcanization of the rubber phase in the blend caused a smoother and finer surface morphology.

The melt rheological behavior of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)/ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) blends has been examined with reference to the effect of blend ratio, shear stress, and temperature. The HDPE/EVA blends exhibit pseudoplastic behavior, and the observed rheological behavior of the blends was correlated with the extrudate morphology. The experimental values of the viscosity were compared with the theoretical models. The effect of maleic- and phenolic-modified PE compatibilizers on the viscosity of H70 blend was analyzed and found that compatibilization did not significantly increase the viscosity. The effect of dynamic vulcanization and temperature on the viscosity was also analyzed. The activation energy of the system decreased with increase in EVA content in the system. The phase continuity and phase inversion points of the blends were theoretically predicted and compared with the experimental values. The melt flow index (MFI) values of the blends were also determined and found that the MFI values decreased with increase in EVA content in the system. POLYM. ENG.
