Perkembangan teknologi mobile broadband saat ini mengalami kemajuan yang pesat sesuai dengan
kebutuhan manusia akan informasi. Teknologi High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) yang merupakan
perkembangan dari teknologi WCDMA merupakan alternatif untuk layanan internet kecepatan tinggi sampai
dengan 7,2 Mbps. Dengan berkembangnya jumlah pelanggan maka kualitas jaringan harus selalu ditingkatkan
baik jaringan luar ruangan atau dalam ruangan. Untuk mengetahui kualitas suatu jaringan seluler dapat
menggunakan metode drive test dengan melihat parameter-parameter nilai sinyal Received Signal Code Power
(RSCP), Energy Chips per Noise (Ec/No). Untuk mengetahui kualitas layanan data maka dapat dilihat dari nilai
troughput kecepatan maksimum dari hasil upload dan download. Hasil penelitian dan pengukuran menunjukan
nilai sinyal yang diperoleh untuk operator Telkomsel dan Axis nilai terbaik untuk RSCP ≥ -92 dBm yaitu dapat
mencapai target yaitu sebanyak lebih hari 80% , dan untuk Ec/No ≥ -9 dBm belum mencapai target 80%,
sedangkan untuk nilai troughput maksimal operator telkomsel dan Axis dapat mencapai target 1,9 dan 1,7
Mbps untuk download dan untuk upload operator telkomsel dan Axis sebesar 407 dan 403 kbps.

Mobile operators commonly use macro cells with traditional wide beam antennas for wider coverage in the cell, but future capacity demands cannot be achieved by using them only. It is required to achieve maximum practical capacity from macro cells by employing higher order sectorization and by utilizing all possible antenna solutions including smart antennas. This paper presents enhanced tessellation for 6-sector sites and proposes novel layout for 12-sector sites. The main target of this paper is to compare the performance of conventional wide beam antenna, switched beam smart antenna, adaptive beam antenna and different network layouts in terms of offering better received signal quality and user throughput. Splitting macro cell into smaller micro or pico cells can improve the capacity of network, but this paper highlights the importance of higher order sectorization and advance antenna techniques to attain high Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR), along with improved network capacity. Monte Carlo simulations at system level were done for Dual Cell High Speed Downlink Packet Access (DC-HSDPA) technology with multiple (five) users per Transmission Time Interval (TTI) at different Intersite Distance (ISD). The obtained results validate and estimate the gain of using smart antennas and higher order sectorization with proposed network layout.

Cellular companies in developing countries like Pakistan are only providing 2G services, while 3G services are yet to be launched. Although a lot of research has been done on 3G services in developed countries but there is very little knowledge regarding practical aspects of planning and optimization of 3G networks in third world countries like Pakistan. This research paper includes a thorough analysis of factors that affect capacity of 3G networks, including radio propagation models. Various propagation models are studied and propagation constants of Standard Propagation Model are tuned according to topography of Islamabad. Scheduling through wireless shared channels is a very challenging problem because of each user?s link-state variations through time. The challenge lies in the support of the quality of service (QoS) of each user under the uncertainty of channel behavior. This problem becomes even more difficult for some of the 2.5G and 3.5G network architectures (e.g EDGE,HSDPA, HDR) where the supported transmission rate can take multiple values and the channel can not be modeled by the traditional ON-OFF model. In this paper we propose Expo-pred-wei, a new scheduling algorithm, which take advantage of the channel variations in order to maximize the total cell throughput and at the same time to preserve, in an efficient way, a minimum QoS for each user. In contrast to other proposed algorithms, our algorithm exhibits very good performance in a wide set of traffic scenarios including Real-Time (RT) or Non-Real-Time (NRT) traffic as well as mixed RT and NRT traffic.

In beyond 3G systems, one of the important factors is to address radio access technology (RAT) selection and load balancing between heterogeneous networks to ensure high spectral efficiency in an era where spectral resources are at a premium. This work aims to address the feasibility of utilizing WiFi as complementary service for HSDPA, to prevent quality of service deterioration in the event of network overload in HSDPA during the busy period. The proposed RAT selection algorithm is based on the load of each system, and the results show that the outage probability can be improved by up to 45% relative to a stand-alone HSDPA system.

Learning Management System (LMS) merupakan suatu aplikasi e-learning yang didesain untuk dapat melakukan proses delivery, tracking, reporting dan managing terhadap isi materi (content) e-learning (electronic learning). E-learning diharapkan dapat menghubungkan sistem pembelajaran antar institusi pendidikan. Agar setiap LMS mempunyai content yang sama, perlu dilakukan sistem sinkronisasi. Sinkronisasi berfungsi untuk memperbaharui (update) content antar LMS. Karena institusi pendidikan di indonesia tersebar di setiap daerah, mengakibatkan munculnya permasalahan jarak antar institusi pendidikan. Untuk mengatasi jarak tersebut, teknologi LMS bisa di integrasikan dengan menggunakan jaringan GPRS dan HSDPA. Parameter jaringan yang digunakan dalam implementasi ini adalah throughput, packet loss, dan lama waktu sinkronisasi.
