This paper presents a synthetic review of the existing knowledge on the stress failure of cement concretes under compression, based on the available literature and the authors’ own research. It is pointed out that there is no knowledge on the stress failure of new-generation concretes, which needs to be acquired through proper research. The usefulness of the knowledge on the stress failure of concrete under compression for building practice is highlighted.

An extra ordinary cement which streams and solidifies under its own weight in this manner disposes of the issues of putting cement in troublesome conditions is known as Self Compacting Concrete. It even diminishes the time in putting vast segments and in the meantime giving high quality and better toughness attributes when contrasted with the Normal Concrete. The dif erent parts of SCC including the materials and blend plan, diverse test techniques, for example, V-channel test, L-Box test and so on., are talked about in this paper.

India is a subtropical country, which receives good amount of rain each year. Due to sudden and massive urbanization, the availability and supply of water for domestic purpose has introduced new challenges in urban water supply. Rainwater harvesting is a sustainable and reliable approach to manage the water in urban areas. In the recent years, rainwater harvesting is as statutory mandate during construction approval. Pervious concrete is a application oriented special concrete product, which has been effectively used to manage the surface run off in the shoulder, parking lane and other highway applications. In the present experimental study, efforts are made to use the pervious concrete as filtration medium for rainwater harvesting. The mechanical properties and permeability of pervious concrete are studied. A filtration medium model has prepared to study the permeability.

In this paper self compacting concrete (SCC) is prepared using different size aggregate i.e. using maximum packing of aggregate depends on the grading of aggregate, and therefore different aggregate size results in different packing. If packing of aggregate is more, paste available for flow will be more. So in present study SCC mixes are prepared keeping paste volume and aggregate volume constant but varying the fine aggregate (FA) and coarse aggregate (CA) proportions in total aggregate. Various such CA like 60:40, 55:45, 52:48 are taken for both only 20 mm MSA and only 10 mm MSA. Total 6 different combinations are tried to check effect of packing of aggregates on the fresh and hardened properties of SCC. It is observed that higher packing density results in higher slum of SCC mix are checked and presented in this paper.

Self-compacting concrete (SCC) represents a milestone in concrete research. SCC is a highly flow-able, non-segregating concrete that can spread in to place, fill the formwork and encapsulate the reinforcement without any mechanical vibration for consolidation. SCC was originally developed at the University of Tokyo, Japan during the year 1986 by Prof. Okamura and his team to improve the quality of construction and also to overcome the problems of defective workmanship. Concrete technology has made significant advances in recent years which results in economical improvement of the strength of concrete. This economical development depends upon the intelligent use of the locally available materials. Important constituent of self-compacting concrete (SCC) is natural sand and filler material which is expensive and scarce. This necessitates that a suitable substitute be found. The cheapest substitute for natural sand is quarry dust and for filler material is fly ash. Quarry dust, a by-product from the crushing process during quarrying activities is one of the materials being studied and fly ash is an artificial pozzolanic material, a finely divided pozzolana form compounds which have cementitious properties, when mixed with hydrated lime and alkalis. In this work, the fresh and compressive strength properties of self compacting concrete when the sand is partially replaced with stone dust , when the filler materials is increased by adding fly ash in % of the total powder content and when both substituent's are implemented simultaneously. Optimization of stone dust and fly ash is also obtained. The results indicated that the incorporation of quarry dust into the self compacting Concrete mix as partial replacement material to natural sand resulted in higher compressive strength and optimization of sand replacement is 40%. Optimization of addition of fly ash in total powder content is 30%.

This trial study expected to research the physical, concoction and mechanical properties of fly fiery debris bond concrete for street development. Exploration has demonstrated that 30% of fly fiery remains and 70% of bond has a prevalent execution. Attributes contrasted with the standard necessities comparable code. Besides, the utilization of fly fiery debris would bring about decrease of the expense of materials in development and the lessening of nursery gas discharge. High quality of solid can be made and the consolidation of admixture or substitute to enhance the properties of cement. Test after effect of examples shows the workability, and holding quality of properties, and distinctive response when the water proportion a change its substance. Droop test having a proper workable blending the droop of a solid, gave adequate compressive quality. Test aftereffects of 14 days examples having diverse results however it just treated when it downs to least level of required similar code.
