�Mortal Kombat� returned to screens with a do-over in 2021, and producers were intent on making a movie that played more like the video game that inspired it. Instead of candied action, there was blood and guts, and a major attempt by the screenplay to generate world-building capable of sustaining a fresh take on an old franchise.
