The impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950's following the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father. Jack finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.

I�m not even sure how to get into the review of Terrence Malick�s Tree of Life, much less dip into its deeper metaphysical mysteries. Part of me wants to wait until I�ve seen it again (or seven or eight more times) before trying to unpack it, but on the other hand I feel like once is enough � it�s enough to absorb what Malick was going for and try to assess some very real, often banal faults that the movie has, which is strange to even discuss with a movie this out-there.
