Area and Perimeter (original) (raw)

Area and perimeter are two basic measurements used to describe two-dimensional shapes.

The perimeter is the total distance around the boundary of a shape, while the area tells us how much surface the shape covers inside its boundary.

In the image, the area is the green region inside the fence, and the perimeter is the total length of the fence around the garden.

**Square

A basic shape with all sides equal and all angles at 90 degrees.

**Rectangle

A common shape where opposite sides are equal, and angles are right angles.

**Triangle

A three-sided shape with different types and different ways to calculate area.

**Circle

A curved shape that uses pi in its formulas to measure area and boundary.

**Parallelogram

A four-sided shape with opposite sides parallel and equal.

**Rhombus

A shape with all sides equal, but angles are not right angles.

**Trapezium (Trapezoid)

A shape that has one pair of parallel sides.

**Quadrilateral and Polygons

Shapes with four or more sides are used to study advanced geometry concepts.
