Did you know that 2.4 million Floridians are cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their household income on housing costs? This week, I traveled to Tallahassee with my Enterprise Community Partners colleague, Beth Stephens, to meet with legislators and discuss solutions to Florida's housing challenges. We had productive conversations about the critical need for workforce housing and policies that support families and communities across the state. These meetings are a vital step toward ensuring every Floridian has access to a safe and stable home. A special thanks to Chairman Buchanan, Chairwoman Michelle Salzman, and Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez for taking the time to meet with us, and to Beth for her partnership in this important work. Together, we’re advancing essential housing solutions for Floridians.#HousingPolicy #Tallahassee - "AI has the potential to close the racial homeownership gap, but only if we train algorithms with intentionality and involve impacted communities in shaping these tools. Without this, we risk perpetuating the very inequities we're trying to eliminate." Last month, our Ayrianne Parks joined an AI roundtable hosted by Rep. Adriano Espaillat. Tech leaders, financial institutions, government agencies, and housing advocates discussed ways to ensure AI meets the needs of all communities, especially those historically underserved.

Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy. Dr. King’s fight against segregation and oppression continues to inspire housers today working to ensure everyone has access to an affordable home and upward mobility. Last summer, we brought winners of our Housing Affordability Breakthrough Challenge to Birmingham, Alabama, where Dr. King penned his iconic “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Our visit with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) underscored why knowing the history of housing injustice is critical to our work for a more equitable future. Every day, we’re inspired by innovators like Breakthrough Challenge winner Build Urban Prosperity (Build UP) as they create the next generation of housing leaders in Birmingham and beyond. The fight for housing justice continues as we seek to ensure that home and community are places of pride, power, and belonging for all. We celebrate #MLKDay today, and strive year-round to emulate Dr. King’s values and perseverance. -

Enterprise’s Jeremiah Powless, EMSL presented to a group of over 20 housing staff in Centralia, Washington at the Northwest Indian Housing Association's (NWIHA) 2025 Winter meeting. It was wonderful to convene with partners and share important updates like the Section 4 grant opportunity for Tribal and Rural groups, Enterprise’s Native American Housing support services and regional resources in Seattle, and news on the work with the Native Homeownership Coalition. https://bit.ly/40pjm5Z -
