- The unfiltered footage seen in Screams Before Silence reminds us to remain vigilant and informed about the conflict in Israel and its broader implications. Thanks to the generosity of the Miller Families, our Jewish Community Alliance will screen this important documentary film at the Hicks Auditorium Conference Center in the Main Library on Thu, Sep 26. Witnessing the physical and emotional scars left from the attacks on Oct 7 during a recent trip to Israel, Leah Miller was compelled to share what she learned to ensure that the truth behind this tragedy is never forgotten. Please read the JCA blog for more details and to reserve your seat at our free screening of Screams Before Silence: https://lnkd.in/eht6gY6s
Screams Before Silence - Jewish Community Alliance https://jcajax.org - Empowering the JCC Movement! Our CEO Adam Chaskin along with Board Chair Nicole Sena Brown, Vice Chair Lior Spring, and Trustee Helen Rowan, are at the summit to network with peers and professionals from across North America while they discover new and creative ways to strengthen our JCA! #JSummit2024
- “You just never know when something is going to happen, so you have to be prepared and make sure that when the time comes you are willing to help resuscitate someone using CPR,” explains our JCA’s PE and Sports Coordinator Alex Minardi. Follow this link to read about how our JCA staff members used CPR to save a member’s life: https://lnkd.in/eqD_37w4. The next Community Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid class happens on Sun, Sep 29 at 12 pm. Registration is required by Sep 19; follow this link to register and learn more about our upcoming CPR courses: https://lnkd.in/eZvzPhQH. Our JCA is proud to be an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider. - L'chaim! We are celebrating the JCA's 36th birthday today! The word l'chaim, a common toast, means "to life." According to Gematria, Jewish numerology, each Hebrew letter has a numeric value, the letters "chet" and "yud" that form the word chai equals 18. Because of this, gifts from Jewish people are often made in increments of 18, and double chai (36) is particularly meaningful as it represents the double joy of life! Want to give us a birthday present this year? Donate to the Building Our Future Together capital campaign. We are working to ensure our beautiful JCA campus continues to be a vibrant, welcoming and enriching place for many years. Please visit jcajax.org/campaign to learn more details and give a gift today!
