Founded in 2021, BHC is a Charleston, SC-based hospitality company whose sole purpose is to create meaningful ways for people to connect and share extraordinary experiences. With a focus on generational ownership and longstanding partnerships, BHC is building a portfolio of interconnected hospitality, entertainment, and wellness experiences designed to stimulate the senses and enrich lives. The collection originated with the acquisition of BHC’s flagship property The Charleston Place, a landmark in the heart of historic downtown Charleston, and has continued to grow with the development of The Cooper, downtown Charleston’s only luxury waterfront hotel; Sorelle, a multi-level Italian restaurant concept in partnership with MINA Group; The Riviera Theater, a revitalized iconic entertainment venue; and Credit One Stadium, a world-class venue for sports and entertainment.

✨ Celebrating Housekeeping Week at The Charleston Place ✨ Last week, we had the privilege of honoring our incredible housekeeping team, the true heart and soul of our hotel. Their dedication and hard work ensure that every guest's stay is exceptional, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all that they do! To show our appreciation, we hosted a week full of fun and memorable activities. The team came together to relax and enjoy delicious food at special lunches, offering a chance to connect outside of their busy schedules. We also participated in team games and friendly competitions, keeping the energy high and the smiles wide, adding a bit of fun to each day. We’re proud of everything our housekeeping team does to make The Charleston Place feel like a home away from home for all of our guests. We’re back with another BHC Team Spotlight, introducing you to the exceptional individuals behind our hotels, restaurants, venues and home office. This month’s spotlight is on Jenna Foote, one of our talented Baristas in the mercato at Sorelle. Q: Where are you from? A: Fairfield, Connecticut. Q: How long have you been at Sorelle? A: I've been working in the mercato for just over a year. Q: What's your go-to coffee order? A: A brown sugar iced latte with cinnamon. Q: What's the most interesting place you've ever traveled, and what made it so special? A: The most interesting place I've traveled has to be Charleston, before I moved down! Charleston has this restlessness that keeps you motivated. Q: What's something you love about your job? A: Creating relationships with our locals. Q: Is there a particular song or artist that you have on repeat? A: Juna by Clairo. Q: What's your favorite way to spend a day off in Charleston? A: Going for a long walk through the South of Broad neighborhood.
In honor of #WorldGratitudeDay, our teams across the BHC collection, Beemok Capital, Modern Minds, and the full family of businesses came together to give back to the community that gives so much to us. On Friday morning, we gathered at Colonial Lake Park with our friends at the Charleston Parks Conservancy, clearing weeds and prepping garden beds for fresh growth. It’s our second year celebrating this important holiday through hands-on service, and each time reminds us of the significance of caring for our shared spaces—and each other. A big thank you to the Parks Conservancy, and to Courtney (Long) Capata for organizing such a meaningful and fun day. We wrapped up with a delicious al fresco lunch from Sorelle, sharing food and gratitude ahead of the weekend. Here’s to community, connection, and the power of giving back!

We'll never get over this incredible view! Yesterday evening, BHC had the pleasure of hosting Kelly Owen's College of Charleston Hospitality & Tourism Management students for an exclusive tour of our upcoming property, The Cooper Hotel. As both a BHC team member and their professor, Kelly, along with Lukus Grace, Ellie Locke and Joe Kropiewnicki from our team, guided the Luxury Hospitality students through their first field trip, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at downtown Charleston’s first and only luxury waterfront hotel, set to open in 2025. We enjoyed sharing our progress and vision with these future hospitality professionals and look forward to more immersive learning opportunities throughout the semester!

This annual event is a special opportunity to reflect on the past year, recognize the contributions of every team member, and look ahead to the future. This week, BHC's own Kelly Owen returns to the College of Charleston to teach a special, semester-long course on Luxury Hospitality and Tourism Management for juniors and seniors in the School of Business. With over 20 years of teaching experience, including 16 years at the College, Kelly brings her expertise in luxury hospitality back to the classroom to help shape future leaders in the industry. Stay tuned for guest lectures from members of the BHC team throughout the semester!

Q: How long have you been with The Charleston Place? A: A little over two years. Q: What is a skill you’ve always wanted to learn? A: I wanted to join the Navy and become a meteorologist! I love anything related to the Earth, atmosphere, and outer space. Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? A: I would love to travel to Ireland to explore my family’s roots! Or to NYC for Yankee baseball and Broadway shows. Q: What’s your favorite thing about your job? A: I love my job on every level — from the company I work for, to the hotel management, to all the guests who visit Charleston's Living Room. I love it all! Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it? A: Zoolingualism! I'd use it to talk to all kinds of animals, especially sharks (they're my spirit animal!). Q: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off in Charleston? A: My favorite days off are spent by the water, whether on a beach or near marshland. I especially love Folly Beach!
