About us
WRA is an environmental consultancy that’s making a net positive impact. As a tenacious team of planners, engineers, and scientists, we believe in leaving the lands we love better than we found them. We partner with public agencies, non-profits, and private entities on multidiscipline projects in a variety of markets. From planning and design, through entitlement and post-construction, we have your back. Our clients lean on us to navigate them through tricky projects and achieve benefits for both the natural environment and local communities. From our roots in wetland research and supporting our first clients in the Bay Area following the inception of the federal Clean Water Act, we have more than 40 years of experience in California's diverse ecoregions. This gives us an understanding of the unique habitats throughout the state and the growing needs of local communities. While our roots are in California, we have supported clients in nearly 30 states and counting. WRA is proud to be an employee-owned, certified small business (SB-PW ref. #13333) with 100 team members working from four offices in California, and a growing distributed workforce throughout the West.

Updates
- WRA offices will be closed on Monday, January 20th, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We wish you a day of reflection and connection to make a positive impact on our collective community.
- Congratulations to WRA Marine Ecologist Bailey McCann on publishing her co-authored graduate research, “Will climate warming amplify the effects of a range-expanding marine predator?” The article focuses on the effects of climate change and Acanthinucella spirata, a predatory marine sea snail that has expanded its presence along the California coast. Please visit our Field Notes page to read the abstract and get a link to the article! https://lnkd.in/gBEhgsxv
- Seeing a stunning sunrise like the one captured by WRA Marine Ecologist Mehak J. Suji is a perk of being a herring observer! WRA is supporting Manson Construction Co. as they conduct annual maintenance dredging activities at the Port of Richmond’s Inner Harbor. WRA, Inc. provides California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW)-approved biological monitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week to observe for Pacific herring (Clupea pallasii) during this in-water activity which occurs during the species’ active spawning season. Pacific herring are found throughout California’s coastal zone and are an important forage species that contribute to the commercial fishing industry in San Francisco Bay. While primarily found offshore, the species moves into bays and estuaries in the winter to lay their eggs. Spawning events can last several days to weeks and attract large numbers of birds, marine mammals, and predatory fish. To learn more about our services, visit our website: https://wra-ca.com/
