Terry Gene Bollea

August 11, 1953: Terry Gene Bollea was born in Augusta, Georgia.
Terry Gene Bollea was an unathletic kid who weighed 195 lbs. at the age of 12.
Terry Gene Bollea began spending time at a Christian Youth Ranch at the age of 14.

Terry Bollea graduated from high school and started at the Hillsborough Community College studying business.
~~~After two years of college life, Bollea continued his studies in business at the University of South Florida.
Terry Bollea was a part-time bodybuilder, night club bouncer, an aspiring musician, and full-time bank-teller.

Getting into the Business

1976: Terry Bollea was spotted ringside at a Florida arena by The Brisco Brothers and trained under the tutelage of Hiro Matsuda.
Terry Bollea moved from his home in Tampa, Florida, and headed west, where he began bodybuilding in Venice Beach, California.

Starting out in Wrestling

1977: Terry Bollea wrestled his first match under the guise of the “Super Destroyer” on the Florida independent circuit.
August 25, 1977: Terry Bollea (Hulk Hogan) wrestled his first professional match as The Super Destroyer against Don Serrano.
Terry Bollea used the ring names “Sterling Golden” and “Terry Boulder” and was sometimes managed by Jimmy Hart.
Terry Bollea met up with Andre the Giant, and quickly befriended him outside of the ring, and fought inside the ring.
September 1979: Terry Bollea started working as a heel for the NWA Georgia territory under the name of “Sterling Golden”.
Fall 1979: Terry Bollea (as Sterling Golden) resurfaced in the Knoxville territory which was run by promoter Ron Fuller.
December 1979: Sterling Golden defeated Dick Slater to capture the NWA South Eastern Heavyweight title.
The site of the very first Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant match was the old Houston Farm Center in Dothan, Alabama.
Early in his career, Terry Bollea teamed with “Dizzy Hogan” who would later be known as Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake.
Hulk Hogan feuded with Jerry “The King” Lawler in Memphis, Tennessee – one of the hottest territories in the world.

World Wide Wrestling Federation and Vince McMahon Sr.

1980: Terry Bollea caught the eye of World Wide Wrestling Federation (New York territory) promoter Vincent McMahon Sr.
Vince McMahon Sr. called him “Hogan” for his Irish heritage and “Hulk” because he was built like Lou Ferrigno, TV’s Incredible Hulk.
Vince McMahon Sr. started Hulk Hogan’s WWWF career off as a “heel” managed by the legendary Classy” Freddy Blassie..
~~~Despite being a tremendous competitor, the heel version of Hulk Hogan didn’t quite catch on with the New York fans.
Hulk Hogan fought many Handicap matches to prove his “GIANT” strength this lead to a feud with Andre the Giant.
December 17, 1979 – WWF Wrestling: Hulk Hogan defeated Ted DiBiase by submission.
January 1, 1980 – WWWF Wrestling: Hulk Hogan defeated Tito Santana.
August 9, 1980 – Showdown At Shae: Andre The Giant defeated Hulk Hogan.
September 22, 1980 – WWF at Madison Square Garden: Andre The Giant defeated Hulk Hogan in a rematch.
Hulk Hogan also got several title shots at then WWF World champion Bob Backlund, but failed to win the championship.
Hulk Hogan then left the World Wide Wrestling Federation and traveled to Japan, where he became an instant sensation.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

Hulk Hogan worked some matches for Antonio Inoki’s New Japan Pro Wrestling, often teaming up with Stan Hansen.
March 7, 1981: Antonio Inoki and Riki Chosyu defeated Hulk Hogan and Perro Aguayoin Kisarazu, Japan.

American Wrestling Association

1981: Hulk Hogan returned to the United States and entered the Minnesota-based American Wrestling Association run by Verne Gagne.
Hulk Hogan again started as a heel, but it didn’t last as his popularity catapulted after he was cast as “Thunderlips” in Rocky III in 1982.
The fans accepted Hulk Hogan and he was soon the biggest draw in the AWA as he feuded with AWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel.
Hulk Hogan nearly defeated AWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkell for the championship on several occasions.
Hulk Hogan engaged in a feud with the Heenan Family, and went through everybody to get to World Champion Nick Bockwinkel.
1982: Hulk Hogan won a Battle Royal to earn the shot at Nick Bockwinkel’s World Heavyweight championship.
Hulk Hogan had Nick Bockwinkel pinned, but Bobby Heenan distracted him and threw a foreign object to Bockwinkel.
~~~Hulk Hogan intercepted and nailed Nick Bockwinkel with the foreign object to put Bockwinkel down for the pin.
~~~Hulk Hogan celebrated as AWA champion, but the belt was taken from him after the commissioner reviewed the tape.

Regarding Hulk Hogan and the AWA World Heavyweight title:

On the AWA (American Wrestling Association) official website they recently made an announcement regarding the April 24, 1983, AWA World title match between Champion Nick Bockwinkel and Challenger Hulk Hogan. The AWA now officially documents this as a title change with Hogan winning the AWA title but then being stripped and the belt being returned to Bockwinkel the same night. However the AWA now officially recognizes Hulk Hogan as a former AWA World Heavyweight Champion.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

September 12, 1982 – NJPW: Andre the Giant defeated Hulk Hogan by Countout after hitting Hogan with the ring bell making him bleed.
~~~After the match; Hulk Hogan bodyslammed Andre the Giant!
June 2, 1983: Hulk Hogan went back to New Japan to enter the IWPG 10-Man Tournament in the Heavyweight Division.
~~~Hulk Hogan defeated Killer Kahn, Big John Studd, Rusher Kimura, El Canek, Enrique Vera, Otto Wanz, and Akira Maeda.
~~~Hulk Hogan also fought to a draw with the legendary Antonio Inoki and the enormous superstar Andre the Giant.
~~~Hulk Hogan and Antonio Inoki ended up with the same amount of points so they clashed in finals.
~~~Antonio Inoki was booked to win the match, but accidentally knocked himself out, and Hulk Hogan covered it up.
~~~The referee counted Antonio Inoki down resulting in Hulk Hogan winning the 1st ever IWGP Heavyweight Tournament.
~~~Years later, a former New Japan referee revealed that the entire incident was staged to help stir up publicity for a rematch.
June 14, 1984 – New Japan Pro Wrestling: Antonio Inoki defeated Hulk Hogan to win the IWGP Heavyweight title.

World Wrestling Federation – Hulkamania is Born!

Late 1983: Hulk Hogan re-signed with the WWF, recruited by Vince McMahon Jr. to be the promotions “Chosen One”.
January 23, 1984: WWF Champion The Iron Sheik was scheduled to face former champion Bob Backlund for the WWF title.
~~~However, Bob Backlund was reportedly injured (neck), so Hulk Hogan stepped up to the plate and took his place.
~~~Hulk Hogan walked into Madison Square Garden in New York as the challenger, and left as WWF Heavyweight champion!
~~~Hulkamania was Born, and “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan grew into a national phenomenon and kicked off a media empire.
July 23, 1984 – Brawl to End It All: Hulk Hogan defeated Greg “The Hammer” Valentineto retain the WWF Heavyweight Title.

World Wrestling Federation – WrestleMania 1

February 18, 1985 – War To Settle The Score: Hulk Hogan (w/Cindi Lauper and Lou Albano) defeated Roddy Piper w/Bob Orton by disqualification.
1985: While promoting the upcoming WrestleMania, Hulk Hogan appeared on a talk show with TV personality Richard Belzer.
~~~In an attempt at demonstrating a wrestling hold, Belzer passed out and banged his head on a table, making headlines.
Roddy Piper’s feud against Hollywood resulted in Mr. T joining the WWF to help Hulk Hogan go up against Piper and Bob Orton.
Hulk Hogan and Mr. T embarked on a publicity tour and appeared everywhere from Regis and Kathy Lee to NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
WrestleMania: Hulk Hogan and Mr. T w/Jimmy Snuka defeated Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff w/Bob Orton.
May 10, 1985 – Saturday Night’s Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Bob Orton to retain the WWF Title.

June 21, 1985 – WWF Wrestling: Hulk Hogan defeated Don Muraco in a Steel Cage Match to retain the WWF Title.

May 1, 1986 – Saturday Night’s Main Event: Hulk Hogan and Junk Yard Dog defeated Terry Funk and Hoss Funk (aka Dory Jr).

World Wrestling Federation – Hulk Hogan and Paul Orndorff

Saturday Night’s Main Event: Paul Orndorff shook Hulk Hogan’s hand after failing to defeat him in a title match.
Hulk Hogan came to Paul Orndorff’s rescue when he was getting beat up by Roddy Piper and Bob Orton on Piper’s Pit.
Hulk Hogan and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Ordorff then feuded with Rowdy Roddy Piper and Cowboy Bob Orton.
Paul Orndorff was mocked by Adorable Adrian Adonis, who claimed Orndorff was merely Hulk Hogan’s sidekick.
Paul Orndorff and Hulk Hogan re-united in a tag match against The Moondogs, but there was obvious tension.
~~~Paul Orndorff nearly wrestled the entire match by himself, in an attempt to upstage his partner.
June 24, 1986: Paul Orndorff and Hulk Hogan defeated Studd and Bundy by disqualification when Ordorff turned on Hulk Hogan.
~~~Paul Orndorff nailed Hogan with a devastating piledriver, then mocked Hogan by cupping his hands to his ear.
~~~Paul Orndorff embraced Heenan, Bundy, Studd and even Adrian Adonis, who kept repeating “You were WONDERFUL!”

World Wrestling Federation – Hulk Hogan vs. Paul Orndorff w/Bobby Heenan

Paul Ordorff stole Hulk Hogan’s “Real American” entrance music to get under the skin of the World Champion.
August 28, 1986 – The Big Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Paul Orndorff w/Bobby Heenan by disqualification to retain the WWF title.
~~~Paul Orndorff covered Hulk Hogan and the referee tapped (Orndorff’s shoulder) three times to signify a disqualification.
~~~Paul Orndorff celebrated with the championship belt anyway, thinking he had won the prized World title.
~~~The referee informed everybody that Hogan had won the match upon a disqualification, therefor the title didn’t change.
September 13, 1986 – Saturday Night’s Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Paul “Mr. Wonderful” Orndorff by disqualification to retain the WWF Title.
November 15, 1986 – Saturday Night’s Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Hercules Hernandez to retain the WWF Title.
November 24, 1986: Rowdy Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan defeated Paul Orndorff and Harley Race w/Bobby Heenan.
~~~Piper pinned Race and stormed out of the ring, leaving Hogan to battle off Heenan, Race, and Orndorff.
December 26, 1986 – MSG Network: WWE champion Hulk Hogan defeated Kamala by disqualification to retain the title.
January 3, 1987 – Saturday Night Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Paul Orndorff in one of the greatest Cage matches of all time.
~~~With two different referees focused on each man, the competitors dropped to the floor at the same time!
~~~Joey Morella declared Hogan the winner, while Danny Davis tried to give the match and title to Orndorff.
~~~Hulk Hogan rushed to attack Paul Orndorff again, and he wiped out Referee Danny Davis in the process.
~~~Joey Marella decided that, in all fairness, the match must be restarted and both reentered the cage.
~~~This time, Hulk Hogan endured all of Orndorff’s offense and delivered his legdrop and go on to win.
January 19, 1987 – MSG Network: WWE champion Hulk Hogan defeated Kamala in a no disqualification match to retain the title.

World Wrestling Federation – WrestleMania 3

Hulk Hogan interrupted an award ceremony to honor Andre The Giant, causing The Giant to walk off the set in anger.
A few weeks later, Andre The Giant ripped the shirt and crucifix off of Hulk Hogan’s chest and challenged him to a WWF Title match.
March 29, 1987 – WrestleMania 3: Hulk Hogan defeated Andre The Giant w/Bobby Heenan to retain the WWF Heavyweight title.

May 15, 1987 – MSG Network: WWE champion Hulk Hogan defeated King Harley Race to retain the title.
August 29, 1987: Bruno Sammartino (last match) and Hulk Hogan defeated King Kong Bundy and One Man Gang.
September 21, 1987 – MSG Network: WWE champion Hulk Hogan vs. The One Man Gang ended in a double count-out to retain the title.
October 3, 1987 – Saturday Night Main Event: WWE champion Hulk Hogan defeated Sika to retain the title.

January 25, 1988 – MSG Network: Bam Bam Bigelow and Hulk Hogan defeated Ted DiBiase and Virgil.
February 5, 1988 – Main Event: Andre the Giant defeated Hulk Hogan to win the WWF Heavyweight title due to an imposter referee.
~~~Andre immediatly handed over the belt to Ted DiBiase! But the title would later be held up by WWF President Jack Tunney.

World Wrestling Federation – The MegaPowers

Randy Savage (freshly turned babyface) challenged Honky Tonk Man (who had defeated Steamboat for the Intercontinental Title).
~~~Randy Savage delivered his flying elbow finisher to the IC champion, when Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart spoiled the finish!
~~~The Harts beat-down Randy Savage and then held him in place while Honky Tonk prepared to strike Randy with his guitar.
~~~Elizabeth tried to intervene, but was shoved down by Honky Tonk Man and she left for the locker room to get some help.
~~~Honky Tonk Man smashed the guitar over Savage’s head, when suddenly from the back came Elizabeth along with Hulk Hogan!
~~~Hulk Hogan charged the ring and along with Randy Savage, sent Honky Tonk Man and The Hart Foundation fleeing backstage.
~~~Randy “Macho Man” Savage then extended his hand to his former rival, and Hulk Hogan accepted in a truly electric moment.
March 12, 1988 – Saturday Night Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated King Harley Race.
March 27, 1988 – WrestleMania IV: Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant received a bye in the 1st Round of the WWF Title Tournament.
~~~Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant faced off in the 2nd Round but were both disqualified and eliminated from the Tournament!
~~~Randy Savage ended up winning the 14-Man Tournament beating Ted DiBiase to be crowned the WWF Undisputed Champion!
~~~Randy Savage was helped by Hulk Hogan in the finals against Ted DiBiase who was being helped by Andre The Giant.
~~~Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan then became known as The MegaPowers after the handshake felt ’round the world!
May 14, 1988 – Superstars: Hulk Hogan defeated Boris Zhukov.
August 28, 1988 – SummerSlam: The Megapowers defeated Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant with Jesse “The Body” Ventura as referee.
~~~Elizabeth caused a distraction at the end of the match but pulling off her skirt, allowing the Megapowers to win the match!
September 11, 1988 – MSG Network: Hulk Hogan defeated Bad News Brown.
October 29, 1988 – Saturday Night Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated King Haku.
November 24, 1988 – Survivor Series: The Megapowers were the sole survivors in their match against Ted DiBiase’s Team.
~~~The Mega Powers Team: Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage and Hercules Hernandez and Koko B. Ware and Hillbilly Jim w/Elizabeth.
~~~The Million Dollar Team: Ted DiBiase and The Big Bossman and Akeem and The Red Rooster and Haku w/Slick and Bobby Heenan.
~~~Tension began to form between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage, when Hogan also took Elizabeth on as his manager.
Fall 1988: The Big Bossman attacked Hulk Hogan on the Brother Love Show and handcuffed him to a guard rail and beat him up.
~~~Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan started a feud with the The Big Bossman and Akeem (known as The Twin Towers, managed by Slick.
November 26, 1988 – MSG Network: Hulk Hogan defeated The Big Bossman by count-out.
December 7, 1988 – Saturday Night’s Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Andre the Giant by disqualification.

World Wrestling Federation – The Mega Powers Explode!

January 7, 1989 – Saturday Night Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Akeem by disqualification.
January 15, 1989 – Royal Rumble: Hulk Hogan accidentally eliminated Randy Savage, prompting a verbal altercation between the two.
~~~Eventually, Elizabeth ran down and got between the two powerful men, saving them from the inevitable break-up.
February 3, 1989 – The Main Event: The MegaPowers defeated The Twin Towers with a truckload of controversy.
~~~During this match, Randy Savage was thrown from the ring by Akeem and fell directly onto Elizabeth, rendering her unconscious.
~~~Hulk Hogan rushed to her side and carried her back to recieve medical attention, leaving Savage to battle their opponents alone.
~~~Hulk Hogan eventually returned to the ring to re-join Savage, but as Hulk reached for a tag, he was slapped by the Macho Man!
~~~Randy Savage then grabbed his WWF Heavyweight title belt and left Hulkster to fend for himself, eventually picking up the win.
~~~After the match, the MegaPowers got into a verbal altercation in the medical headisqualificationuarters at Elizabeth’s bedside.
~~~Randy Savage accused Hulk Hogan of lusting for Elizabeth and viciously attacked him with the WWF Championship belt!
~~~Hulk Hogan’s longtime friend, Brutus Beefcake, attempted to come to Hogan’s aid, and was also beaten up by Savage.
March 11, 1989 – Saturday Night Main Event: Hulk Hogan defeated Bad News Brown.
March 18, 1989 – MSG Network: WWE champion Hulk Hogan defeated The Big Bossman in a steel cage match to retain the title.
April 5, 1989 – WrestleMania 5: “The Immortal” Hulk Hogan defeated Randy “Macho Man” Savage to win the WWF Heavyweight title.
~~~Elizabeth chose to take a neutral corner for this match, but ultimately put an end to her alliance with Randy “Macho Man” Savage.
~~~Hulk Hogan got up from Macho Man’s flying elbow during the match, and pinned him to capture his second WWF Championship.

March 1992: People Magazine wrote an article that almost caused Hulk Hogan to end his career as a professional wrestler.
~~~It wrote that several of his fellow wrestlers claimed that he bulked up on muscle-inflating steroids and abused other drugs.
~~~Hulk denied these accusations and said he only used steriods briefly in 1983, while under physician’s care for a torn bicep.
~~~Billy Graham remembered when a 230 lbs. Hulk Hogan was trying to get into the spotlight without much success.
~~~Billy Graham then remembered that when he saw Hulk Hogan a year later, and he weighed a whopping 295 lbs.
~~~Another former wrestler, David Shults, said Hogan went way beyond steroids using cocaine and marijuana too.
Hulk Hogan dissappeared from the World Wrestling Federation for nearly a full year before making his return.

1993: Hulk Hogan returned to the WWF to help his friend Brutus Beefcake in his feud with Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase and IRS).
Two days before WrestleMania, Hogan was injured in a jet-ski accident, which explained the shiner he had when he wrestled at WM9.
April 4, 1993 – WrestleMania IX: Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase and IRS) defeated Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake w/Jimmy Hart by disqualification.

June 17, 2010 – TNA IMPACT: Hulk Hogan praised “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal and put him over big time as a current star of TNA.
~~Abyss later went crazy and destroyed Hardy and Anderson with weapons – so Hogan came out to find out what the hell was going on?

September 16, 2010 – TNA IMPACT: Dixie Carter over-turned one of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff’s decisions about the main event.
Mike Aldren wrote (On September 13, 2010): Hogan’s back is in really bad shape again. He was hospitalized last week which was covered blow-by-blow by the TMZ website, as his people calls their people these days when he wants some publicity. It’s believed he tore a muscle due to frequent bending over. The day of the injury he was collecting seashells at the beach and later in the day his back locked up. Hogan has now endured six back surgeries over the past three years, his last in May which was to remove bone spurs, and he’s said to be in immense pain most of the time. Hogan said he plans to marry his girlfriend, Jennifer McDaniel, very soon.

October 10, 2010 – TNA Bound For Glory: Jeff Hardy defeated Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson in a 3-WAY to win the vacant TNA title!
~~~After the referee was bumped, Eric Bischoff came down to act as referee – but it looked like he was going to “screw” Kurt Angle.
~~~Suddenly, Hulk Hogan (on crutches) showed up to stop Bischoff – however, Hulk gave his crutches to Hardy to use as a weapon!
~~~Jeff Hardy broke one crutch over Kurt Angle’s back and the other crutch over Mr. Anderson’s back as Hogan and Bischoff smiled.
~~~Jeff Hardy hit Mr. Anderson with the Twist of Fate and pinned him to become the NEW TNA World Heavyweight champion!!!
~~~Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan, and Eric Bischoff were joined by Jeff Jarrett and Abyss to celebrate Hardy’s big championship victory.
October 14, 2010 – TNA IMPACT: Hulk Hogan’s “Immortal” formed an unbeatable alliance with Ric Flair’s “Fortune” faction.
~~~Eric Bischoff invited Sting and Kevin Nash to join the group – but they declined, deciding to walk out of TNA and go home instead.
~~~It was revealed that Dixie Carter was set up by Eric Bischoff and tricked into signing papers that gave up control of the company.

Mike Aldren wrote (On November 1, 2010): Old wrestlers and social networking = Whoops! Hulk Hogan over the weekend accidentally Tweeted a topless photo of his girlfriend Jennifer. Apparently the steamy image was not meant for public consumption because it was deleted soon after it was posted. The word making the rounds is that Jennifer underwent a breast argumentation at some point and Hulk is more than thrilled with the results.Hogan settled his lawsuit against Post Foods claiming that a TV ad for Cocoa Pebbles cereal misappropriated his likeness by featuring the cartoon character “Hulk Boulder.” Terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Hogan’s attorney, Joseph W. Bain, said Hulk was happy with the outcome.
