Equestria is a thoroughly modern suburb dominated by townhouse, simplex and estate living much sought after by first-time home owners and the young jet set crowd in Pretoria. Equestria is but a quick trip along the N4 straight into town or on to the N1 through to Centurion, which explains why this part of the valley is so popular. Living out in the far flung eastern side of Pretoria definitely has its advantages, particularly when it comes to getting out and about over weekends.
Lying within quick access of the N4 as it makes its way out of the city of Pretoria, Equestria, which must as its name suggests, have been linked in some way to the world of horses, lies in a beautiful valley, its nearest neighbour the pretty suburb of Wapadrand, the Bronberg Mountain a gentle reminder of horizons worth exploring on the edge of the city. Menlyn Mall is just one weekend haunt for Pretoria�s eastenders, offering numerous big mall type shops and boutiques, as well as hours of entertainment. To cope with the demand placed upon it, the mall has adapted with a number of extensions and additions over the years, to become one of Pretoria�s main draw cards.
The outdoors beckons and is easily reached from Equestria. The Pretoria Botanical Gardens with its beautiful shady trees, prettily paved nature trails and sweeping lawns is ideal for a weekend day out. And a little further along the N4, Sammy Marks Museum is an enviable Victorian mansion set in beautiful grounds that depicts the colonial life of the industrialist and financier Samuel, better known as Sammy Marks.
