About Stroll the Rondebosch Common

Relish the tranquility of the Rondebosh Common. Stretch your legs and embrace nature, bring along the family and the dogs for a great walk and really make an afternoon of it. Ponds are filled with tadpoles and make a fun place for the kids to play.

The Rondebosch Common is a conservation area for the endangered Cape Flats Sand Fynbos vegetation which is endemic to Cape Town. A large variety of species are protected here including 110 species of birds such as the blue crane as well as many small animals, reptiles and amphibians. This national treasure was previously used as a military camp and in 1805 the Dutch farmers came together here before the Battle of Blaauwberg. Troops were often stationed here right up until the Second World War.

Now, Rondebosh Common is a stunning place to stroll through, picnic and enjoy the sunsets.
