Brits abroad warned to stay away from one area of Benidorm (original) (raw)

Benidorm, a magnet for scores of British holidaymakers seeking sun-kissed beaches and cost-effective drinks, has become the subject of an alert by a local expert regarding an area notorious for muggings. Party organiser Frank, known on TikTok as @frankthestagman, highlighted concerns in a recent video where he takes his followers on a tour of the locale.

Cruising past landmarks such as the indoor market and Mariano's, a round-the-clock food outlet, he then focuses on the vicinity opposite the Flash Hotel. Frank says: "Just before we hit the strip, there's a little police building. I'm going to show you here with a little playground next to it."

He stressed that this particular part is infamous for incidents of pickpocketing. Echoing this sentiment, his associate added: "Ironically, it's also where they tell you, if you have an incident as an English person, such as a robbery, you have to go and report it there." The pair referred to the corner adjacent to the small play area as a prime spot for muggings, despite its proximity to the main action of the strip. Normally praising Benidorm for everything from its hotels to party scene, as well as giving weather updates to prospective visitors, Frank makes it a point to also inform his viewers about the hazards that could impede their travels, reports the Daily Record.

His platform serves as a dual-purpose tool, not only to celebrate the destination but also to remind tourists of the necessity to remain vigilant against crime, ensuring they can revel in their holiday without distress. Since the video was posted online, it has quickly amassed hundreds of views and sparked a flurry of responses from those who watched it. Many viewers chimed in with their own tales of criminal encounters at the same spot.

One viewer shared their story: "Got mugged there two weeks ago - watch, phone and wallet. Police found my wallet the day after, but bank cards gone. Just hotel key and driving licence left."

Another said: "I had my travel wallet stolen as I helped my mum get off the coach. Only just arrived. Lost all my money, passport, tickets. There was a queue of people all in the police station - all been pickpocketed."

However, one person offered a different take: "It really scares me, but I came out as a solo female and have zero issues. Was also in your bar. Lovely place - I will be back."
