- September is Pharmacy Month: “Let's Talk About Vaccines”. To celebrate, the BroadReach CCMDD Provincial Coordinator for NW Province supported the depot pharmacy personnel. The team visited a few facilities in Ngaka Modiri Molema District to provide health information on the importance of vaccines. Other topics included "safe use and storage of medication” and “DablapMeds – the shortcut to your chronic medicines”. DablapMeds is a new name for the program CCMDD, an important public health program to improve patient retention in care by providing alternative collection points for their chronic medicine.

We believe that access to good health enables people to flourish. - BroadReach Health Development recently held a capacity building session for community-based organizations (CBO) in Nkangala, Mpumalanga. The training aimed to help local organizations apply for and manage funding, covering compliance, governance, and support service management. The training drew representatives from various local organizations. Dhirisha Naidoo, Chief of Party for the PEPFAR/USAID APACE programme, welcomed the CBOs, the Department of Health and Mr Elphas Nkosi from the Provincial AIDS Council. In her welcome, Dhirisha emphasized, "Collaboration is paramount in our efforts to empower local organizations in their service delivery efforts to communities.” Mr Phephelaphi Masimula of the Kings and Queens Behavior Change Institute expressed his gratitude by saying, “We have learned a lot, and the training was what we needed most.”
- BroadReach Health Development, the implementing partner of the USAID/PEPFAR APACE program in Mpumalanga, recently showcased their work at the Rural Health Conference 2024. Abre Nel, Special Projects Manager presented on “Increasing oral PrEP awareness and demand creation in communities by DREAMS Ambassadors: Findings from Mpumalanga, South Africa”. “One of the key findings was that 15 178 AGYW were initiated on PrEP during 2022-2023 – that is a 14% year-on-year increase due to demand generation and DoH nurse capacitation”, says lead author of the poster, Dr Veni Naidu, BroadReach’s HIV Community Services Lead.#RuralHealthConference2024 #PrEP USAID
