Leimbach is a district of Mansfeld in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz, which, together with the centre of Mansfeld, forms the northern part of the district of Mansfeld-Lutherstadt.

The district lies on the river Wipper. This is where federal highways 86 and 242 intersect. On the roundabout of the two federal highways is the Germania monument, which was inaugurated on July 19, 1885, and commemorates the Franco-Prussian War. To the east of the city is the Church of St. Peter and Paul. Leimbach and Mansfeld are separated by the viaduct of the Klostermansfeld – Wippra railway line. This bridge was completed in July 1918 during the First World War and is the largest truss bridge in Germany.
