A former Pb-Ag-Cu mine located in sec. 23, T16S, R38E, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) W of Cerro Gordo (7 miles E of Keeler). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in limestone. The ore body is lenticular in form at a thickness of 1.52 meters. Partially oxidized, irregular lenses occur in silicated limestone adjacent to a quartz-monzonite intrusive. There are 2 ore veins. One strikes N30W and dips 70-80W. The other strikes N20E and dips 80E. Associated rocks include monzonite. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 3 (SE California Clastic Assemblage).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 82.3 meters and an overall depth of 36.58 meters, and comprised of a 120 foot vertical shaft and a 250 foot adit on the Silver Reef claim.

The Ventura and Sunset produced between 1911 and 1949. Ore averaging 28.3% Pb, 5.79% Zn and 12.58 ounces Ag/ton.
