Originally reported in space group P1 (Rastsvetaeva et al., 2011).

General Appearance of Type Material:

Fine-lamellar to tabular crystals up to 0.5 x 1 x 2 mm in size and their clusters up to 2 mm across.

Place of Conservation of Type Material:

Type material is deposited in the collections of the Fersman Mineralogical Museum of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia, registration numbers 3995/2 (holotype)
and 3995/1

Geological Setting of Type Material:

In miarolitic cavities of alkaline basalt.

IR Spectrum:

The IR spectrum is an important diagnostic feature. Absorption bands (s = strong band, sh = shoulder) are 1013, 950sh, 892s, 849s (Si–O stretching vibrations), 670sh, 654 (O–Si–O bending vibrations of Si2O7 groups), 570, 526 (Ti–O stretching vibrations of TiO5 polyhedra), 454s, 389s (combination of Si–O–Si bending vibrations and stretching vibrations of MO6 octahedra, where M = Fe3+, Fe2+, Mn, Mg, Ca). Bands less 1100 cm–1 are not detected in the IR spectrum.
