De Clericus Cup is een jaarlijkse, internationale voetbalcompetitie in Vaticaanstad voor rooms-katholieke priesters en seminaristen dat sinds 2007 plaatsvindt. De competitie staat onder de bevoegdheid van kardinaal Tarcisio Bertone. Er zijn 16 teams, waaronder ook een team van de Zwitserse Garde.

Spielberechtigt ist ein Spieler als Ordensmann oder Novize einer in Rom ansässigen päpstlich anerkannten Ordensniederlassung oder als Absolvent oder Seminarist des Päpstlichen Römischen Priesterseminars oder eines anderen päpstlichen Priesterkollegs in Rom. Zu Anfang war auch ein Team der Schweizer Garde dabei. Es gelten leicht angepasste Fußballregeln: Die Spielzeit beträgt zwei mal 30 Minuten. Neben der Gelben und Roten Karte gibt es eine Blaue Karte für mittelschwere Vergehen, die eine fünfminütige Zeitstrafe zur Folge hat. Ersonnen wurde der Wettbewerb von dem ehemaligen Kardinalstaatssekretär Tarcisio Bertone, der ein großer Fußballfan ist. Gespielt wird seit 2011 in vier Gruppen mit je vier Mannschaften. During the fourth season (2010), the tournament involved sixteen schools and fielded players from 65 countries, with the majority coming from Brazil, Italy, Mexico, and the United States. The players are normally seminarians studying to be Roman Catholic priests. A handful of players are ordained priests. The annual tournament is organized by the (CSI). The league was founded in 2007, and matches for the fourteenth season will begin in March 2022, after two seasons were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Officially, the goal of the league is to "reinvigorate the tradition of sport in the Christian community" and has been called the "clerical equivalent of soccer’s World Cup." In other words, it exists to provide a venue for friendly athletic competition among the thousands of seminarians, representing nearly a hundred countries, who study in Rome. The league is the brainchild of the Cardinal Secretary of State, Tarcisio Bertone, who is an unapologetic football fan. While some press outlets hinted that the Church hoped to offer a brand of football free of football hooliganism, the reality is that play on the field is intensely competitive. Pomysłodawcą imprezy jest kardynał Tarcisio Bertone, znany ze swego zamiłowania do piłki nożnej. W rozgrywkach bierze udział 16 drużyn, w tym jedna z Watykanu. Do 2010 roku w eliminacjach były one podzielone na dwie grupy po 8 drużyn, a z każdej grupy wychodziły po 4 drużyny. Od 2011 roku (V edycja) drużyny podzielone są na 4 grupy po 4 zespoły. Za zwycięstwo w regulaminowym czasie gry (60 minut) dostaje się 3 punkty, za przegraną 0. Jeśli w regulaminowym czasie gry nie dojdzie do rozstrzygnięcia, nie ma dogrywki, lecz od razu przechodzi się do konkursu rzutów karnych. Za zwycięstwo w karnych dostaje się 2 punkty, za porażkę 1 punkt. W fazie pucharowej drużyny także grają ze sobą 1 mecz, i podobnie jak w fazie grupowej, tak i tutaj (w przypadku remisu) od razu dochodzi do konkursu rzutów karnych. Rozgrywane są ćwierćfinały, półfinały, finał i mecz o trzecie miejsce. Zwycięska drużyna otrzymuje specjalny puchar. Mecze odbywają się w ciągu tygodnia tak, aby nie kolidować z mszami. Połowy meczu trwają 30 minut. Pierwszy w historii mecz w ramach Clericus Cup został rozegrany 24 lutego 2007, kiedy to reprezentacja kolegium pokonała reprezentację Papieskiego Uniwersytetu Gregoriańskiego 6:0.Pierwszym zwycięzcą została drużyna z seminarium Redemptoris Mater w Rzymie.
