Montánchez és un municipi de la província de Càceres, a la comunitat autònoma d'Extremadura (Espanya). Limita al nord amb Torremocha, al nord-est amb Valdefuentes i Torre de Santa María, al sud-est amb Peraleda del Zaucejo, al sud amb Arroyomolinos i a l'oest amb Albalá i Alcuéscar.

Asentado junto a un castillo de origen romano que todavía se conserva, las primeras referencias sobre Montánchez datan de 1095, durante la invasión musulmana. Tras la conquista leonesa, se le dio título de villa con un término que abarcaba 14 municipios actuales, formando la Tierra de Montánchez. La villa estuvo vinculada históricamente a la Orden de Santiago. Todo ello ha contribuido a que en la población haya un importante conjunto monumental. En la actualidad, Montánchez es conocido por el Castillo de Montánchez, el jamón de Montánchez y por ser reconocido como el mejor cementerio de España.
