Springbok (gegründet als Springbokfontein) ist das Versorgungszentrum des Namaqualandes in der Gemeinde Nama Khoi, Distrikt Namakwa, Provinz Nordkap in Südafrika. Springbok ist Distrikthauptstadt von Namakwa. Ihren Namen erhielt die Stadt nach den großen Springbockherden, die im 19. Jahrhundert diese Gegend durchstreiften, bis diese dann von den Siedlern fast ausgerottet wurden. 2011 hatte die Stadt 12.790 Einwohner.

La ciudad se encuentra en un valle estrecho entre los altos domos de granito de Klein Koperberge (Pequeñas montañas de Cobre). El nombre revela que el primer asentamiento fue gradualmente transformándose en un importante en un mayor centro administrativo y comercial para las operaciones mineras de cobre de la región. Pese a que las actividades mineras se han reducido, la ciudad se mantiene como un centro administrativo importante debido a su situación, siendo una importante escala para los turistas que se encuentran de camino a Namibia. It was called Springbokfontein until 1911, when it was shortened to Springbok. Springbok is located on the N7 national route which connects the Cape with Namibia, and at the western end of the N14, which connects it with Upington and Pretoria. It is the main town of the Nama Khoi Local Municipality, which also includes a number of surrounding towns such as Okiep and Nababeep. The town lies at an elevation of 1,007 metres (3,304 feet) in a narrow valley between the high granite domes of the Klein Koperberge (Small Copper Mountains). This name gives away the reason for the early settlement which gradually turned into a major commercial and administrative centre for copper mining operations in the region. While the town initially developed rapidly, this slowed when rich copper deposits were discovered in Okiep. As the main source of water, Springbok continued to develop as the commercial and administrative centre for different mines in the area. Even though mining activities have dwindled, the town remains an important administrative capital in the region and due to its location a favourite stopover for tourists on their way to Namibia. Today the main income is generated from tourism, mining activities, commerce and farming. As of 2011, the small town which covers an area of 37.56 km², had a population of 12790. Coloured people make up 79.9% of its residents with Afrikaans being the most widely spoken language. Springbok is de hoofdplaats van Namakwaland en ligt ongeveer 555 km ten noorden van Kaapstad en 40 km ten zuiden van Steinkopf aan de nationale weg N7. Het is de zetel van talrijke Noord-Kaapse regeringsdiensten, alsook het centrum van handel, nijverheid, vervoer en bestuur van Namakwaland. Het nabijgelegen Okiep en Nababeep waren lang belangrijke centra voor kopermijnbouw. Springbok ligt op een hoogte van 1.000 meter in een smalle vallei tussen de hoge granietbergen van de (Klein Koperberge). Zoals deze naam reeds aangeeft was koper de reden voor de eerste nederzetting die langzamerhand uitgroeide tot een belangrijk commercieel en bestuurlijk centrum voor de kopermijnbouw in het gebied. Hoewel mijnbouwactiviteiten in de streek sterk zijn verminderd is het stadje een belangrijk bestuurlijk centrum gebleven voor de streek en is door zijn ligging een favoriete halteplaats voor toeristen op weg naar Namibië. Vandaag de dag komen de belangrijkste inkomsten uit toerisme, mijnbouw, handel en landbouw.Vanaf het centraal gelegen kleine koppie (heuvel) lopen de straten af het stadje in en de heuvel toont de vreemde flora van Namakwaland.
