Anti-Masonic Examples: Greg Lambert (original) (raw)

Greg Lambert

"Danger lies in the writer becoming the victim of his own exaggeration, losing the exact notion of sincerity, and in the end coming to despise the truth itself as something too cold, too blunt for his purpose - as, in fact, not good enough for his insistent emotion."
Joseph Conrad, Polish-born English novelist

Known for making America Online a hostile environment for Masons is Greg Lambert - also known under the screen name of "TrueGspl". He apparently enjoys the speaking circuit where he preaches his message of anti-Masonic hate and has provided written material for the anti-Masonic "ministry": Ephesians 5-11. Always challenging to debate in public with videos running, he apparently believes that his argument is so persuasive that no one can resist.

To read some of Mr. Lambert's most heinous material, click on "Fake Gospel" to your right. It's hard to believe that a person claiming to be a Christian would lie like Greg Lambert....

We're told that Mr. Lambert has - using other screen names on AOL such as "LargRev" and "Wrong11111" - made some pretty outrageous claims. These apparently including a claim that he was among the military forces who had captured Hitler's Bunker during World War II and that he was a Vietnam veteran held in a prison camp for five years. In a post to the alt.freemasonry newsgroup, he claimed military service in the U.S. Navy from 1974-1978_._

(Masonicinfo Note: A couple of simple history reminders: _--- it was the_Russian military who captured Hitler's bunker.... --- the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam on March 29, 1973 and that the last 591 acknowledged POWs were released on May 1, 1973 - the year BEFORE his claimed military service!

Needless to say, repeated requests for tangible information about Greg's military service (beyond just the claimed years) are met with silence.

In his very first message sent to us about this site, Mr. Lambert began by quoting our admonition "Got some thoughts or reactions? Send an e-mail to Reply@masonicinfo.com. Remember: abusive, defamatory or repetitive mailings will be dealt with severely. Don't risk losing your e-mail and internet access just because you disagree with what you've found here." writing "Is this a threat?"

We replied "No, it's a statement of fact and information. Why would you feel threatened by it?" to which Mr. Lambert adroitly responded, "So you are threatening me. Just as I thought." And so continues the logic....

Bragging that video tapes of his 1998 'performance' at the anti-Masonic 'Mission to Masons' are "selling like hotcakes" (despite the fact that they were still not offered for sale on the internet site of the conference's organizer some three months after the fact). He also commented that by mid-October, 1998, he had sent out 324 of them "just this month" but added "Most for free." (Interesting way to count "sales", isn't it?) Greg also recounted the amazing response he has had in getting men to renounce Freemasonry by noting the results of his appearances in 1998. In an e-mail, he claimed:
"Aug. 15th Buchcaan Ky. about 55 attendees. Some were masons. 2 left the Lodge. Aug. 19 Prestonsburg, KY 130 attendees. 8 left the Lodge. Aug. 29 Xenia Ohio 100 attendees, 4 left the Lodge. Oct. 5 Akron Ohio 240 attendees, 12 left the Lodge. Oct .11 Greenville Ohio 34 attendees, one demitted. Oct. 19 Columbus Ohio 95 attendees, 5 demitted."

Thirty men left Masonry in just two months according to this recitation of 'achievements' but as is typical with Greg, the claims are totally unsubstantiated. We can only respond using his favorite message closing:
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA"

Lambert states that quotes of Masonic authors convince Masons to leave Freemasonry. His arguments might even be persuasive unless one realizes that they are taken completely out of context with surrounding text ignored or totally fabricated! He also claims that our site has helped him in his 'mission'; we think that this is the type of claim made similar to those of his WWII/Vietnam service record and we have yet to hear from or of the supposedly many Masons who were 'repulsed' by this web site which he claims to be using in his presentations (and which, if it were true, would place him in violation of U.S. federal copyright laws - and therefore not only a liar but a criminal as well!).

You can read more about Greg's presentations in a Mason's account of the 1998 "Mission to Masons" conference here and do be sure to check our page on 'Fake Gospel'.

An update:

In February, 1999, we received this communication from Mr. Lambert:

Date: Thu, 4 Feb 1999 00:07:44 EST To: Reply@MasonicInfo.com Subject: Good

I am so glad I found your page. It is full of wonderful material. Do I have your permission to download it, put it on power point and use in the next Ministry to Masons conference? You prove my points better than I do! Thanks!

Greg Lambert

Interesting that someone who declared the material here to be "hogwash" needs such material. Needless to say, we declined this request. Curiously, though, we received back the following:

What strange games these anti-Masons play.... And we'll ask again: is thisthe type of individual you'd trust to give you accurate and unbiased information - about Freemasonry or anything?
