He originally began his career in music as 'K-Dot' while still a teenager. His mixtape resulted in a deal with Top Dawg Entertainment. In 2010, his fifth mixtape, O(verly) D(edicated) expanded his recognition in the rap music community. With each LP release, Kendrick has received critical praise and a reputation as a talented and important rap artist. Time magazine named Kendrick as one of the '100 most influential people' in the world and Rolling Stone has described him as "...the most gifted rapper of a generation."
