- We had a lot of fun presenting an AgTech seminar in Wagga Wagga today, and I couldn’t have had a better co-presenter than Pete from Farmers2Founders. There were some incredibly insightful ideas from a brilliant group of students. The future of AgTech in Australia is looking pretty good!

What’s the secret sauce to getting a farmer to buy your agtech product? We asked Jock McRae what’s worked for him at Spinitek... The magic word? ➡ Yield Every farmer wants increased yield. That’s at the top of their list. Yes, they want increased soil carbon. They want disease resistance. They want a lot of other benefits, but if we're talking top of the list - Yield. We proved we can produce an increase in plant weight and grain yield while reducing the amount of fertiliser applied. That is a double win for farmers. The secret weapon? ➡ Agronomists Farmers are a wary bunch. They are brand loyal to a fault. A lot of farmers are quite conservative and risk averse with their farming practices, but we found a way around that particular hurdle - Farmers trust their agronomists, horticulturalists and on-farm professionals. The final touch? ➡ Relationships I’ll go out to their farming enterprise and assess the farm with them. Farmers love to show off what they’ve built, very similar to founders. I take a very organic journey with them. We’ll sit down for a cup of tea and a biscuit and drive around the farm to find out what their problems are.
